This week we are asking for help for one of our farm cats. Pearl showed up a couple years ago on the farm as a kitten, barely alive. She was nursed back to health and these days tortures her people with bringing in ā€œpresentsā€ to the garage.

We knew Pearl was sick when she wasnā€™t out hunting and let us pick her up and hold her without getting bit at. So she got a vet appointment and then decided to disappear for 6 hours. Panic set in. Walks, calling, and trying to find her, and she finally showed up just in time to get her into the vet for the day.

We arenā€™t sure what the future holds as the vet isnā€™t sure what exactly is going on, but she is on a round of meds and we are hoping for the best!

Introducing The Sea Monster

JK youā€™ve already met Dakota, anyone else have a dog who LOVES the water?

Dakota is now around 9 months old. She is such a well mannered girl, but she still has a lot of things she can work on. She is a stubborn teenager who would do best with structure and another med/large dog in the home to play with. She is kennel trained (in a heavy duty kennel), potty trained, bell trained, and dog door trained.

Did we mention she is also a wooo girl? We havenā€™t been able to catch it on video yet, but she loves to talk, boof, and whine like a typical shepherd.

She is a bit of a scaredy cat when the other dogs start barking she comes running to hide behind her person. She loves to lay across her lap and generally be wherever her foster momma is. This means you cannot leave her in the house when you leave (out of the crate) or outside when you go inside or she will try to find a way to you.

As you can see she also ADORES water. It is her favorite thing of all time. Fill a baby pool and she is entertained! Watering your garden, she will bite the water coming out of the hose. Water bowl inside, well we are still working on her not soaking the whole house everytime she gets a drink šŸ˜‚

Anywho preference will be given to someone who is willing to find a trainer or an experienced working dog owner as she is a big/strong dog already who will need leadership as she continues to grow.

The chicks are currently still inside with 2 different set ups. The older/larger of the group got some climbing toys this week!

Diamond is a sweet little gal who is ready and waiting for a home to spend her golden years. She is approximately 10 years young, does well with dogs, people, and even does great in the car. She has gotten to go on some adventures this summer with her foster family, and has done fabulously.

Remember Dakota? She is a 9ish month old, 70 lbs, shepherdish girl who is back and looking for a home.

She was in a great home who did a lot of work with her but it wasnā€™t working out. What weā€™ve learned about her along the way:
šŸ¾ does great with medium/large/XL dogs, but is too big/rough for small dogs. In fact she would do best with a large playmate who is confident with people and noises.
šŸ¾ nervous with new people, but as long as you let her approach sheā€™s a huge lover
šŸ¾ typical to the shepherd persona - she attaches at the hip to her person. In fact she likes to try to lay across my lap when I sit on the couch.
šŸ¾ sheā€™s nervous with new things & loud sounds, but just stands behind me (or climbs behind me on the couch)
šŸ¾ needs a heavy duty kennel of some kind
šŸ¾ preference given to experienced working dog parents or one who is willing to line up a trainer to help you guide her into adulthood
šŸ¾ she WANTS TO BE IN THE WATER. Her water bowl, the hose, the pool, doesnā€™t have to be out in the rain, but otherwise - be prepared for a wet floor, wet dog, etcā€¦.
šŸ¾ she has the same long coat as Cali, so be prepared for a ton of brushing and/or grooming bills
šŸ¾ she has a somewhat sensitive tummy so food transitions will need to be slow

Honestly, sheā€™s great. There are a lot of reasons I canā€™t keep her in this season of life, I would in a different situation (like maybe if I was younger with more energy to keep up with her šŸ¤£).
