🐾 Solo playtime doesn’t always look like fetch, tug-of-war, and nonstop fun! 💙

Sometimes, solo play looks like cuddles, patience, quiet moments, and building trust. 🥹

For sweet Jettie, we’re taking things at her pace. Being in a new environment can feel overwhelming for a timid pup, so right now our goal is to help her feel safe, confident, and comfortable with us. 💕

A big part of that is learning how to communicate through our own body language. Here are a few tips for helping timid dogs feel more comfortable:

🐶 Turn your body slightly sideways instead of facing them head-on. This can feel less intimidating.

👀 Avoid prolonged direct eye contact. Soft glances and looking away can help communicate that you aren’t a threat.

🧎‍♀️ Get down to their level. Sitting or crouching nearby can feel much less overwhelming than standing over them.

🤲 Let them come to you. Resist the urge to reach for or pet a nervous dog before they’re ready.

🐾 Move slowly and calmly. Quick movements and loud, excited greetings can be scary for timid pups.

💗 Give them space. Sometimes the best way to build trust is simply being nearby without asking anything of them.

✨ Follow their lead. Every dog has a different comfort level, and confidence grows when we allow them to progress at their own pace.

For Jettie, today’s win might not be a game of fetch—it might be choosing to sit beside us, accepting a cuddle, or simply feeling safe enough to relax. And those little moments are HUGE. 🥹💙
