🐾🎉 Throwback to one of my New Leash on Society Clinics! 🎉🐾

I'm still playing catch-up on sharing photos from some of my favorite training adventures (I'm slowly getting the hang of this social media thing! 😂).

One of the things I love most about my New Leash on Society Clinics is that they're much more than a group outing. They're designed to feel like semi-private training sessions, with each participant sending me their top three goals ahead of time so I can tailor the clinic to the dogs and people attending. Every clinic is a little different because every team has different goals!

This clinic took place at Ace Hardware in Palmyra, and I want to send a huge THANK YOU to them for welcoming us! ❤️ Having local businesses that allow us to practice in real-world environments is such a gift.

These clinics are held at a variety of locations around Fluvanna County, giving dogs and their people the opportunity to practice polite public manners, strengthen training skills, build confidence in new environments, and learn how to navigate everyday situations together.

One of my absolute favorite things is seeing familiar faces return. 🥰 Dax and Tadpole have both participated in private sessions, group classes, and clinics with me since their adoptions. Watching them continue to learn, gain confidence and strengthen the bond they share with their dedicated humans is one of the greatest rewards of what I get to do.

These boys—and their wonderful people—did an amazing job! 👏 They quickly became fast friends, learned to greet people politely, worked hard around distractions, and made fantastic progress throughout the clinic. Seeing dogs and their people grow in confidence together while having fun is exactly what these clinics are all about. ❤️🐶

Training isn't just about teaching cues—it's about building communication, trust and teamwork that lasts a lifetime.

🎓🐾 Congratulations to the Fluvanna Dog Spot's newest Beginning Obedience Class graduates, Willow and Jack! 🐶❤️

These two pups (and their wonderful people!) put in the time and effort, and it was so much fun watching their confidence and skills grow over the course of class. As part of graduation, each team demonstrated a trick they learned outside of class—a requirement for earning their diploma—and they both did a fantastic job! 👏🎉

One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching the bond between dogs and their people grow stronger each week. It's incredibly rewarding to see everyone leave class with new skills, greater confidence and a better understanding of one another.

This class was especially fun, and I was so grateful for the wonderful feedback I received. Hearing that participants were seeing improvements in their dogs' behavior, listening skills, confidence and overall relationship with their dogs is why I love what I do. It was also wonderful to hear how much they appreciated the twice-a-week schedule and the small class size. Meeting twice each week gives dogs and their people frequent opportunities to practice, ask questions and build on their success, while the small classes allow me to provide plenty of individual attention to every team. ❤️🐾

Congratulations again, Willow, Jack and your families! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your training journey! I can't wait to see all the adventures ahead! 🎓🐕✨

🐾 Thinking about joining us? My next Beginning Obedience Class starts Monday, August 3rd at 4:15 PM. Registration information below.

If you'd like to build better communication with your dog, strengthen your relationship and have fun while learning together, I'd love to help! ❤️🐶

📅 Registration is open through the weekend—there are a few spots left. Here's the link: https://fluvanna.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=2386

I love it when students share about their experiences with my training services! You don't have to take my word for it...here's what one student has to say:

Ashleigh has been an integral part of my dog ownership journey for years. She is absolutely incredible at taking what can feel complicated and making it simple and approachable. I can’t count the number of times she’s said something and I’ve thought, “Of course—why didn’t I think of that?”

She is kind, patient, and truly exceptional with the dogs. I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable dog owner—our family has always had dogs (and not always easy ones!)—but there is something incredibly valuable about working with a skilled trainer who can offer a fresh perspective.

We’ve always loved Ashleigh’s private sessions, and over the past few years we’ve also added two rescue dogs to our family who have benefited tremendously from group classes at the Dog Spot.

Tater, who we adopted through Caring For Creatures, is a very good boy with loads of energy. He has the sweetest, happy-go-lucky personality, but needed guidance to help him focus and follow directions.

Fritz is our most recent addition (adopted this January). Adopted through the Fluvanna SPCA - he was loving, but lacking confidence. Through classes and private sessions, I’m proud to say we are well on our way to building his confidence in new situations. We now have a happy, balanced little pack that truly thrives together!

I credit so much of that success to Ashleigh—she was even part of the adoption process, as she was there when we met both dogs!

Whether you’re a first-time dog owner or have years of experience, you will absolutely learn something about yourself and your dog through Ashleigh’s classes.

I absolutely LOVE what I get to do! ❤️🐾

Every dog and every family have different goals, and that's one of my favorite parts of being a trainer. Watching dogs learn the skills that help them successfully navigate the human world means they get to enjoy so many more experiences with the people they love. 🥰

One-year-old Enzo is working toward becoming the perfect assistant to his mom at work! 💼🐕 At this session, he did an amazing job working on relaxing on his place beside her desk, ignoring people as they walked by, greeting visitors only when given the "okay," and happily returning to his place when asked. 👏

He's already quite the popular guy, and I have no doubt he'll become even more beloved as his mom continues polishing his manners and life skills. I'm so excited to watch this team continue to grow together!

Great job, Team Enzo! 🎉🐾💙

🖤🐾 Meet Preacher! 🐾🖤

Seriously...could those ears be any cuter?! 😍➡️ And don't miss the second picture...that's what a puppy looks like after using his brain! 😂💤 Learning is hard work!

This family gets a gold star from me! ⭐ Before they even brought Preacher home, his mom reached out for a dog trainer recommendation because they wanted to start him off on the right paw. 🐾💙 I absolutely love that kind of planning!

The fun surprise? It turned out I was the trainer who was recommended! 😊 Even better, I went to school with both of Preacher's parents and was friends with his mom back then. Such a small world!

I'm so proud of them for starting young and teaching Preacher the ropes of living in the human world. 🐶 He's going to grow into a BIG, handsome boy, and they're already building a strong relationship, establishing kind and consistent leadership and teaching Preacher the skills he needs to successfully live in our human world. That's a foundation that will benefit all of them for years to come. ❤️

People often wait until unwanted behaviors become big problems before asking for help. The truth is, an ounce of prevention really IS worth a pound of cure! 💙

Preacher is learning so quickly, and his family is doing an outstanding job! They're working through all the puppy crazies with patience, consistency and lots of love. 🥰 Every session they're asking great questions, putting in the work and setting Preacher up for success.

Keep up the fantastic work, Team Preacher! I'm so excited to watch this sweet boy grow into the amazing dog I know he's going to be! ❤️🐾 He's well on his way with the assistance and guidance of his wonderful people!

🐾 Millie is a perfect example of what can happen when love, patience, and consistency come together. 🐶💛

This is Millie—a sweet Lab mix with a big heart and big feelings for her elderly person 😅💛

When we first started working together, Millie’s excitement showed up as jumping and puppy mouthing that left marks on her person’s arms. Not because she was “bad,” but because she didn’t yet have the skills to channel all that enthusiasm in a calmer, safer way.

At one point, some family and friends were suggesting that rehoming might be the best option.

But Millie’s person wasn’t ready to give up—and instead chose consistency, guidance, and daily follow-through. That decision made all the difference 🙌

Fast forward to today… and WOW. What a transformation!

Millie is still Millie—fun, happy, and full of personality—but now she has much better manners, and her relationship with her person is calm, safe, and truly beautiful to see. They are both enjoying each other in a way that simply wasn’t possible before 🐶💛

I’m especially proud of her person for the dedication it took to get here. I always remind folks: I can guide the process, but the real change happens in the daily work at home.

And I still LOVE the updates I get—it’s one of my favorite parts of this work ❤️

Wishing everyone a safe, happy 4th of July filled with sunshine, fun, and good pup manners 🇺🇸✨ Please keep summer safety in mind—make sure pets have plenty of shade and water, avoid overheating, and during fireworks keep dogs and cats safely indoors away from loud noises. It’s also a great time to double-check ID tags and microchip info in case a spooked pet manages to slip out.

Happy training,
Ashleigh 🐾💛

Frosty is proof that learning never has an expiration date 💙🐾
This amazing little guy may be retired from his former life as a show dog, but he’s embracing his new role as a beloved companion with enthusiasm and heart. After earning all the titles and mastering everything expected in the show ring, his new person decided to enroll in my Beginning Obedience class—something she had enjoyed with previous dogs—to strengthen their bond and maybe have some fun along the way.
Well…Frosty didn’t just participate—he ROCKED it! 🎓✨
He proudly earned his graduation certificate, and perhaps most impressively, he learned “sit” and “down”—behaviors that were actually off-limits during his show career. Talk about a mindset shift!
And because he’s an overachiever 😉 here he is performing his graduation trick—jumping through his person’s arms on cue. What a fantastic little fellow!
