PSA: Melbourne friends, be aware!

RABIES ALERT ISSUED FOR MELBOURNE AREA

The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County has issued a 60-day rabies alert after a raccoon captured off Andrews Avenue in the Melbourne area on Aug. 27 tested positive for rabies.

The alert covers the area bounded by West Eau Gallie Boulevard to the north, Sarno Road to the south, Croton Road to the east and North Wickham Road to the west. Health officials say residents and visitors should be aware that rabies is currently present in the wild animal population.

DOH-Brevard is urging people to avoid contact with wild or stray animals including raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters, bobcats and coyotes. Keep pets vaccinated and on a leash, keep livestock secured, and do not leave pet food or open garbage outside where it can attract wildlife.

If you or a pet is bitten or scratched, seek medical or veterinary attention immediately and report the injury to DOH-Brevard at 321-634-6337, option 3. To report stray animals, contact Brevard County Sheriff's Office Animal Services at 321-633-2024.

Rexha’s little adventure is officially OVER.

After nearly two days missing, Rexha’s family called us for help. She had last been seen running into a huge cow pasture, still wearing her reflective harness.

About 45 minutes into our drone search, we spotted something lying near a fence line by the highway.

It was Rexha.

Her family immediately headed toward her, called her over, broke out the treats and… GOT HER!

We had an amazing group of people come together that night. From the neighbor who let us use their property to launch the drone, to the pasture owner who gave the family permission to enter, and of course Rexha’s very determined family.

Tonight, Rexha is HOME and being loved on.

A fun visit with Steffie and her mom. We helped Steffie’s owner find her a few months back when she went missing for several days. Today we came back to get them all geared up with a Fi collar!

Alaska ➡️ Florida!

After spending some time in Alaska visiting family while my wife was working, I’m headed back home.

I’ll be back at it Wednesday with Space Coast Drone Pet Recovery, helping families find their lost pets.

Still kind of surreal to say this… we were recently featured by a local news station!

The story highlights something we’re really proud to be a part of and that’s our partnership with an incredible local nonprofit and our shared goal of helping the people (and pets!) in our community.

When we started Space Coast Drone Pet Recovery, we just wanted to find a way to help families during some of their hardest moments. To now be recognized for that work alongside such a great organization is something we’re truly grateful for.

Brevard County is home, and while that’s where our focus is with Paws Angels S&R Brevard , Space Coast Drone Pet Recovery is always happy to help families in the surrounding counties whenever we can.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, trusted us, shared our posts, and cheered us on. We couldn’t do this without this amazing community.
