DOG TRAINING TIP brought to you by The Pack π
Teach Your Dog That Calm Behavior Pays Off
Does your dog jump on people, bark for attention, or struggle to settle down? Start rewarding calm behaviors and correcting and redirecting unwanted behaviors.
β
Reward the quiet moments. When your dog lies down or relaxes on their own, calmly praise them or offer a treat or pets.
β
Don't reward unwanted excitement. Avoid giving attention to jumping or demanding behaviors. Instead, reward your dog when all four paws are on the ground and their body has quieted down.
β
Practice patience. Ask your dog to sit and wait before meals, going through doors, or getting out of the car.
Reminder- A well-trained dog isn't just one that knows commands. It's a dog that learns how to manage excitement, make good choices, and settle in different environments.
The goal isn't just obedience β it's teaching your dog how to live successfully in our world!
