1 year later 🗓⏳👣 Pibbles!!
This little girl here!! She wasnt suppose to stay. She wasnt even suppose to be a foster...but God and Sharron had other plans.
One year ago, I walked into the shelter to have a meeting...not look at the dogs. After our meeting, the top "sales girl" Sharron said, "Oh Jess, you have to see this!" I knew in that moment, I was in big trouble, I better find my stern "No" somewhere inside before we get to the thing she needed to show me.
She wasnt even showing me this dog...it was another case that she wanted me to advertise for foster, but as we were on our way through the kennels, to her "original guilt trip," this little girl caught my eye.
She was not much bigger than my hand, and her little tail wagging so hard her body danced in circles. Way too small and brand-new to be in that giant, cold, loud place. I said, "Sharron, gimme that!" And she smiled that sly smile, as if this was actually her plan all along. She knew I wouldnt leave empty handed, I never do...which is why I banned myself from even driving through the parking lot.
As I walked out with this tiny critter, my daughter said, "Mom, you promised...no more dogs. Oh, let me hold it while you drive." Her heart was shook too, as she held this brand new baby, so tiny and fragile.
After being home for few days, she started showing signs of Parvo. This sweet little red head lost her spirit, and almost didn't make it, but thanks to the quick kind hearts at Anderson County, BARC The Humane Society and Brookhallow, we were able to start her on treatment at home...round the clock IVs, meds and prayers...this tiny little firecracker became my whole days and nights.
Then, one morning, just like that, she barreled out of her kennel, fiesty as ever, barkin' and pouncing, ready to rock this world...as if it all never happened. During her healing process and our joint journey, she somehow grew an imaginary cord to my heart, and refused to leave my side... she was no longer adoptable, she was mine and I belonged to her just as much. She was officially home.
The heart gift I did know I needed!! She's a menace, a bit spoiled and she can argue better than any teen alive...but shes all mine...my girl, Pibbles❤️😍❤️
If you ever think about taking a trip to BARC, take a walk with my girl Sharron, your heart will never be the same...and I promise, you wont leave empty handed.
