Many moons ago… 😂

And yes, I realize this picture is very many moons ago. Let’s just appreciate the fact that I apparently had no idea what a camera angle was. 🤣

But this little floof ball? He’s Bear. And I’ve had him for 11 years now.

This picture was taken around the time I started down my own healing path. I was trying to figure out who I was, where I was going, and what the heck I was doing with my life.

I never could have imagined that picking up this tiny, ridiculously fluffy creature would become such a huge part of the life I was building.

For 11 years, Bear has been there through the thick of it. The hard days, the good days, the messy days, and all the days in between.

He never cared if I had a five-year plan.
He never asked if I had my life together.
He mostly just cared about food, naps, and being wherever I was. 😂

But somehow, in his own little Bear way, he helped me through some of the hardest parts.

Looking back, I realize he didn’t just grow up alongside me. He helped shape the person I became.

And eventually, he became part of the reason Ulti-Mutt Bakery exists.

It’s funny how you can pick up a tiny floof ball one day and have absolutely no idea that you’re bringing home a piece of your future.

11 years later, I’m pretty sure I got the better end of that deal. ❤️🐾

Happy 11 years, Bear.
Thanks for sticking around while I figured this whole life thing out. 😂❤️

You deserve to know exactly what is going into your pup's treat jar. 🐾

When we redesigned our packaging, we wanted to take transparency a step further. Flip over any of our new bags and you'll find a complete nutritional breakdown right on the back.

We put our recipes through extensive laboratory testing so you never have to guess about protein levels, healthy fats, moisture, or functional benefits.

Flip your bag over on your next order and take a look! What is the number one thing you check for on a pet food label?

Bear. ❤️🐾He’s a senior pup, which means he’s earned the right to be a little particular about his treats. 😉

These are some of his favorites—and honestly, seeing that little face waiting for his treat never gets old.

Because as our pups get older, every little moment matters.

The happy tail.
The expectant eyes.
The little treat ritual.

Those are the moments we make Ulti-Mutt for. ❤️

Good treats. Good ingredients. More moments together.

🐾 What’s your senior pup’s favorite treat?

The buzz is real 🍯🐶

There’s a little more behind the honey in our biscuits than you might think.

Every Ulti-Mutt biscuit is naturally sweetened with 100% real honey—no refined cane sugar and no artificial sweeteners.

And our honey has a story of its own.

We source it from our friend Hal Hendrix, Vice President of the Alabama Beekeepers Association, who raises bees throughout Alabama. Because his bees forage in different areas across the state, the honey naturally picks up subtle differences from the flowers and plants around them.

So when we add honey to our biscuits, we’re not just adding sweetness. We’re adding a little piece of Alabama agriculture to the recipe while supporting the people who keep our pollinators buzzing. 🐝

It’s one of those small details that makes us appreciate what’s behind the ingredients we choose.

And, of course, the dogs seem pretty happy about the whole arrangement. 😉

Has your pup discovered our honey-sweetened biscuits yet?

🐾 Let’s Talk About FAT

“Don’t feed your dog fat. Fat causes pancreatitis.”

You’ve probably heard it. Maybe you’ve even been told it by your veterinarian.

But here’s something worth knowing:

The evidence behind that blanket statement isn’t as strong as you might think.

For years, dietary fat has been treated as the dietary culprit in pancreatitis. But newer research is challenging that assumption. A 2026 review found that the studies behind the long-standing connection had significant limitations, and newer research has not consistently shown that simply feeding more dietary fat causes pancreatitis.

🔬 Read the research:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41707322/

And here’s the part I really want you to think about:

Fat isn’t a “bad” nutrient. It’s an essential part of a dog’s diet.

Fat provides concentrated energy, essential fatty acids, and helps the body absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K.

So should every dog eat a high-fat diet?
Absolutely not.

Should every dog be afraid of fat?
Also no.

For some dogs—especially those with recurrent pancreatitis or certain health conditions—a low-fat diet may still be appropriate.

🔬 More research on dietary fat & canine pancreatitis:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38569533/

✅And this is where I think we need to look beyond a single number.

When evaluating a food or treat, fat is just one piece of the nutritional picture. The amount matters, but so do the source of that fat, the other nutrients in the food, the ingredients, the portion, and the individual dog eating it.

One number can’t tell you the whole story.

That’s how I approach formulating Ulti-Mutt Bakery treats. I don’t formulate around making one number as low as possible. I look at the whole ingredient and nutrient profile and ask:

What does this food actually bring to the bowl?

The lesson isn’t “feed more fat.”

It’s “stop treating nutrition like it’s one-size-fits-all.”

Don’t just ask, “How much fat?”

Ask: What kind of food is this? What does it provide? And is it appropriate for this particular dog?

Question everything. Look at the evidence. And keep learning. 🐾
