A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Ladies Night at Holy-Field Winery and helped support Friends of Bonner Springs Animal Control! ❤️🐾

Because of your support, generosity, and willingness to spend an evening having fun for a great cause, we can continue helping the animals in our community and providing resources that make a real difference.

Events like this are about more than wine and a night out (although those are pretty great too 🍷). They’re about communities coming together to support animals in need and helping us continue our mission.

Thank you to Holy-Field Vineyard & Winery for hosting, and thank you to everyone who came out, donated, shopped, visited, and showed support. We truly could not do this without you.

Together, you’re helping us make Bonner Springs a better place for animals and their people. 🐕🐈🐈‍⬛🦮🐩🐕‍🦺

Oddy cat is not feeling well this morning so we are at Acute Vet Urgent Care for veterinary treatment. Her kittens are still thriving and we will ensure they get the care they need while momma is receiving treatment.

Right now, we could really use donations to help with the cost of her care. We appreciate everyone who has donated thus far, as we were able to raise over $100 towards her first vet visit. If you are unable to donate, please share. Anything helps. 🫶🏼

🚨 Emergency Rescue – Oddy & Her Kittens 🐾

Friends of Bonner Springs Animal Control is asking for your help after a critical case involving a mama cat named Oddy.

An owner reached out when her cat Oddy gave birth to five live kittens and one underdeveloped, deceased kitten. Just two days later, Oddy’s condition took a sudden and serious turn for the worse.

Our team acted immediately, rushing her to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City for emergency care.

What veterinarians found was concerning:
▪️ A significant infection
▪️ A dislocated hip from a previous unknown trauma
▪️ Broken teeth from a previous unknown trauma

Despite everything stacked against her, Oddy fought. 💪

She was hospitalized overnight, and thankfully, her condition improved with medication, avoiding the need for surgery. Today, Oddy is back with her kittens, where she belongs, and we are closely monitoring her recovery and ensuring her babies are safe and thriving.

But we’re not done yet.

💉 Ongoing care is critical:
• Continued medication and follow-up treatment for Oddy
• Veterinary care and vaccinations for all kittens
• Ensuring they are healthy and ready for adoption

💔 Cases like this are exactly why we exist, and why we need your support.

👉 We are actively raising funds to cover Oddy’s medical care and to give her kittens the healthy start they deserve.

💲 Every donation makes a direct impact.
All funds go straight to animals in the care of Bonner Springs Animal Control, allowing us to continue stepping in when animals and owners have nowhere else to turn.

📲 Donation options:
• PayPal: Friends of Bonner Springs Animal Control
• Venmo:
• In Person/by Mail: 215 E. Cedar Street, Bonner Springs, KS 66012

If you can’t donate, please share this post. Visibility saves lives just as much as funding.

Thank you for standing with us, and for standing up for animals like Oddy and her kittens. 🖤🐾

Transformation Tuesday 🤩 Featuring Cochise

Cochise was found in the 100 block of S. Neconi on February 22nd, clearly suffering from long term neglect. He was emaciated, stained with urine, and incredibly depressed. His first several days at the Bonner Springs Animal Control Facility, he would urinate while lying in his bed. Not because he wanted to, but because he was so accustomed to being confined to a small space that he didn't realize he could now move about freely. Over the next 9 days, the Bonner Springs Animal Control Unit made it their mission to prove to Cochise that good people still exist, and that he wouldn't ever be neglected again. He quickly gained weight, confidence, and trust. He learned that he could go outside regularly to use the bathroom and he no longer messed in his kennel or bed. Being groomed washed away any last scent of his past neglect and prepared him for his next step of getting transferred to the wonderful crew at the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. There, he will receive his pre-adoption vetting before finding his forever home.

Cochise is just one example of the positive effect an animal control shelters can have on a pet's life. If you would like to support the good work of the Bonner Springs Animal Control Unit, you can drop off monetary or supply donations at the Bonner Springs Police Department, 215 E. Cedar Street, or the Bonner Springs Animal Control Facility, 11600 Kaw Drive. We also have a Venmo account () in which 100% of the proceeds benefit the animals in the care of the Bonner Springs Animal Control Unit and spay and neuter efforts in the community.

Thank you to Northeast Kansas Animal Welfare Foundation for donating a veterinary scale to assist in our animal cruelty investigations. Being able to track an animal's weight will greatly aid in prosecution of our animal cruelty cases.

Last but not least, the person responsible for mistreating Cochise has not been identified. If you have any information, please contact the Bonner Springs Animal Control Unit by calling 913-422-7800 ext. 1579 and please leave a message. If you see any animal being mistreated, neglected, or otherwise not properly cared for, PLEASE be their voice and report it to the authorities.
