💦 Pet Safety + Pools = A Conversation Worth Having 🐾
With pool season coming up, I wanted to share something close to my heart. I currently care for a senior dog who is going both blind and deaf, and it changed the way I think about pet safety around water—forever.
Dogs don’t always understand boundaries, especially seniors or pets with vision/hearing loss. A pool that seems harmless can quickly become dangerous without a few extra precautions.
A few things I’ve learned along the way:
• 🐶 Never assume they “know” where the pool is — especially if routines or surroundings change
• 🚧 Physical barriers matter — fences, covers, or alarms can save lives
• 👀 Supervision is everything — even for strong swimmers
Our pets trust us completely. They rely on us to see what they can’t, hear what they don’t, and protect them as they age. Senior pets still deserve fun, sunshine, and summer memories — just with a little extra care 💛
If you have a pool (or spend time around one), I hope this is a gentle reminder to pause and pet-proof. It’s always better to be over-cautious when it comes to the ones we love most 🐕💕
