If you see something, say something. This needs to end.

Donkeys’ physiology is not designed to withstand the extreme stretching of their necks and hind legs for sport. They are often used in place of cattle because they are less expensive to replace if they are injured or killed, reflecting a disturbing disregard for their welfare.

🍂🎃 What an incredible, fun, and exciting weekend at our annual Pick-a-Pumpkin Pet-a-Donkey Fall Fundraiser! 🫏💛
A HUGE thank-you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! From pumpkins to donkey snuggles, your smiles, support, and generosity helped make this weekend extra special.
Your donations mean so much to ODS and help us continue providing the love, care, and safe haven our donkeys deserve. Every contribution makes a difference, and we're so grateful to have such a wonderful community standing behind our herd. 🧡
Thank you for being part of the magic, supporting our donkeys, and helping make this fundraiser such a success!
From all of us at ODS (especially the donkeys 😉), thank you for making this weekend unforgettable! 🍁🤎

🎃 Our raffle baskets are looking pretty irresistible this year! 🎃

We've put together 10 themed raffle baskets for our Pick a Pumpkin, Pet a Donkey! fall fundraiser, and there's something for just about everyone.

How about a picnic basket complete with Wh***ey Hill Winery's Big Ass Red w**e, ODS w**e glasses, a stadium blanket, and a $140 gift certificate to the Japanese Garden? Or a little pampering, with cozy gifts, a facial, and a massage?

We've also got a cat lover's dream featuring a $200 Meowhaus gift certificate, a fiesta basket with Donkey Tequila and a $50 Grove Restaurant gift card, a basket packed with donkey-themed treasures, and even a Pete the Cat collection for the younger crowd.

Other baskets feature vegan goodies, road trip essentials, tempting snacks, original artwork, handmade gifts, and a few surprises.

🎟️ Raffle tickets: $5 for 1 | $20 for 5 | $45 for 15

100% of raffle proceeds go directly toward caring for our donkeys. Winners of baskets containing alcohol must be 21 or older.

And there's plenty more to enjoy at the fundraiser: pumpkins, original artwork, unique gifts, custom handmade wreaths, ODS clothing, and, of course, our 25 donkeys!

📅 October 17 & 18 | 10:30 AM–3:30 PM

⭐⭐IMPORTANT CHANGE THIS YEAR: Due to the growing popularity of our event, we're requiring staggered arrival reservations to make parking and access easier for everyone. Please reserve your arrival time in advance, even if you've attended in previous years.

Washington peeps! Don’t
Miss !

Hey y'all, I hear All4Paws Okanogan Rescue has scheduled an event at the Riverblend Espresso right here in Riverside. Turns out, their event is on the same day and almost at the same time as our event at Healing Hearts Donkey Shelter and Refuge, on behalf of Humane Animal Welfare Alliance. Now, you can feed two birds in one hand (thanks Cheryl Lund 😉) and attend both. Yay! Bring the kids and let's have some fun.

If you’re looking to get donkeys or have donkeys, don’t miss this opportunity!

Hey! We have heard some folks say they feel like the DWS might be "above their knowledge level." If you are feeling a little angst about the level of technicality, don't fret! The presenters know that they have a mixed audience of owners and practitioners. They know to make their talks accessible to owners. The presenters will be there all weekend and would be happy to answer any questions. Please know the Donkey Welfare Symposium is for ALL donkey enthusiasts. We hope to see you there.
