HAPPY VICTORIA DAY
Queen Victoria kept several beloved dogs throughout her life, especially King Charles Spaniels, Skye Terriers, and dachshunds.
One of her most famous dogs was Dash, a King Charles Spaniel. She received him as a young woman (before she became queen), and he was considered her closest companion in her early reign. When Victoria became queen in 1837, Dash famously “moved into” royal life with her.

After she married Prince Albert, the royal household became even more pet-filled. They had dogs everywhere — not just as companions, but as part of daily family life. Victoria was known to
Personally care for her dogs,
Commission portraits of them &
allow them into her private rooms. She also grieved deeply when they passed away.

By the later years of her reign, she had many dogs at Windsor Castle and Osborne House, and they were treated almost like members of the royal family.
So yes — Queen Victoria wasn’t just a ruler of an empire… she was also a very devoted dog person. 🐶

Coco inspires me to teach “leave it” more often so here goes…
1️⃣ Put a treat in your closed hand.
Let your dog sniff, lick, and investigate. The SECOND they back away… mark “YES!” and reward from your OTHER hand.
2️⃣ Add the words “Leave it.”
Say it once calmly. Wait for them to disengage from the treat. Reward immediately when they do.
3️⃣ Practice with different items.
Try toys, food on the floor, or dropped items. Start easy and build up slowly!
The goal? Teaching your dog that ignoring something GOOD gets them something EVEN BETTER 💛

Pepper is only 6 months old… and she’s already learned how to disappear.
Curled up tight in the corner. Quiet. Tiny. Trying not to take up space while the world walks past her.

But then something beautiful happened.

Someone stopped. Sat down.
Waited. They bonded.
And Pepper’s little tail gave the tiniest wag.

That one wag said everything:
“Maybe I’m safe here.”

For people & for dogs…Sometimes healing doesn’t start with big moments. Sometimes it starts with one tiny tail wag & a safe place in the world. ♥️🐾

Fireworks scare me… please help me before they start.
A few things that really help:
🐾 Play firework sounds quietly while I eat treats or dinner
🐾 Walk me earlier before it gets loud outside
🐾 Make me a cozy safe spot where I can hide and relax
🐾 Give me a frozen Kong or chew to keep my brain busy
🐾 Keep my collar and tags on just in case I panic
🐾 Close the windows and turn on music or the TV pretty loud for background noise

I’m promise I’m not being dramatic. My ears hear EVERYTHING!!
