Every dog breed has natural instincts that need to be met or redirected. Tracking dogs should have the chance to use their noses and explore under human supervision, while hunting breeds should be allowed to express their hunting drives.

If you can’t fully meet your dog’s natural instincts, try to redirect them into similar, engaging activities. For more information, reach out to your local certified Always Faithful Dog Trainer.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Cleopatra (a.k.a. Cleo)! She is a 2-month-old chocolate Labrador Retriever who began her Leadership Essentials and Basic Obedience training this past week. Her owners reached out to us as they wanted to make sure Cleo's training got started off on the right track.

It's no accident the Labrador Retriever has been America's most popular breed for decades. Boundlessly enthusiastic, endlessly gentle, and loyal to the core, Labs don't just fit into your life, they become the best part of it.

Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that come in three colors: black, yellow, and chocolate. They are a breed with many talents and can become superstars in all doggie walks of life. Their many talents and friendly disposition are probably part of the reason Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds. They love anything that has to do with people—especially if it involves water. Most love to get out and play fetch, but if given the opportunity, they may just laze around your house all day munching on whatever they can find.

Labrador Retrievers love hunting, swimming, and jogging, and have been proven to be excellent service dogs, athletes, and therapy dogs. There’s really not much a Labrador Retriever can’t do, you just have to be willing to help them learn.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Cleo! We look forward to helping you become the calm, confident, obedient pack member they desire.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Kaya! She is a 6-year-old Great Pyrenees mix (possibly Border Collie & Australian Shepherd) who began her Leadership Essentials & Basic Obedience training this past week. Her owners reached out to us as they were having problems with her barking when guests would come over, people walked by the house, and increasing excitement and reactivity on walks with pulling on leash.

The Great Pyrenees has been around for hundreds of years, and they mainly serve as a livestock guardian dog. However, the farmers of the Pyrenean mountains would also occasionally use the Great Pyrenees as a herding dog as well. The Great Pyrenees is known to be an intelligent, calm, and gentle dog when well trained and socialized. The Great Pyrenees truly has the reputation of being a gentle giant. Additionally, the Great Pyrenees is known to be incredibly affectionate with the members of their family.

Border collies are active, working dogs best suited to country living. If confined without activity and company, these dogs can become unhappy and destructive. The breed is highly intelligent, learns quickly and responds well to praise. Border collies are herders and were bred to work sheep, but they can manage just about any type of herd and will even herd children in the family. Because they train easily, border collies are also used for police work, narcotics and bomb detection and for search and rescue missions. They also make good guide dogs for the blind.

Just when you think you’ve burned an Australian Shepherd's energy stores, they have more gas in the tank. No matter how many long hikes, runs, trips to the dog park, and puzzles you pull out, an Australian shepherd will always be ready for more. Active, family-oriented, and scary smart, these perpetual motion machines are loyal companions with energy to spare, making them great for families and singles alike. But, bred as herders and guardians, Aussies are a working breed who require a job to do in order to thrive.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Kaya! We look forward to helping you become the calm, confident, obedient pack member your human family desires.

NEWTON & PAVLOV graduated! 🐾🐕👏

These two handsome guys have come a long way since training began. Their owners reached out as they were having increasing excitement issues leading to increasing fights between the two. Newton was nipping and herding people that came into the house, and both were pulling excessively on leash on walks.

We are pleased to report that both are now calmer, more obedient followers in the family pack. No more issues with resource guarding, nipping, or herding. Walks are improved and much calmer and more engaged with their owners. Both dogs can calmly walk together with no issues.

Both impressed their owners on field trips to Home Depot and the Farmer's Market. On the first-ever trip to the super high-distraction Farmer's Market, they calmly sat and watched people and other dogs walk by, greeted some calmer dogs with no issues and calmly maneuvered past other people, dogs, kids, and strollers. With calm, confident, consistent leadership these two transformed into the well-behaved followers their owners envisioned.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha alumni family, Newton & Pavlov! We look forward to staying in touch.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Bella! She is a 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles who began her Basic Obedience training this past week. Her owners reached out to us as they wanted to fine tune her commands, address her pulling on leash on walks and increasing excitement when guests come over.

The Cavalier King Charles spaniel is one of the largest and most popular toy dog breeds, often called the perfect lap dog. This affectionate, active, and family-friendly dog is known for its silky, wavy coat, short legs, floppy ears, and distinctive feathered features. Although only officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1995, they have a long, noble, and royal lineage.

Though this dog will greatly appreciate a good, solid walk for about 30 to 60 minutes a day, a bit more exercise may be needed for the breed. If you walk your dog for half an hour, then another half an hour spent playing fetch will suffice for your Cavalier. In addition, these dogs do well in competitive sports, such as agility and obedience. This breed is an ideal choice for a first-time dog owner. A new dog parent will learn grooming skills with a Cavalier, but this sweet-natured pup has a great personality for novice owners.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Bella! We look forward to helping you fine tune your skills to become the calm, confident, obedient pack member your owners desire.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bob was a rescue that had only been around a couple of humans and a handful of dogs before landing with his current owner. He growled, barked and kept his distance before we were contacted to work with him and his owner. By the second lesson, he was leashed and going on walks with his human mom and furbaby sister Scout. Calm, clear, consistent communication combined with leadership principles utilizing his natural instincts helped him trust his new owner and thrive in his new home in a short period of time.

Whether you have a rescue, adult dog or new puppy, we can help. Get the calm, well-behaved dog you envisioned without using treats, clickers or shock collars. Call today to begin your journey from chaos to calm!

🐕‍🦺 Memorial Day prep: dogs don’t understand BBQ etiquette. Without leadership, they treat the grill like an all-you-can-eat buffet and the yard like a wrestling ring. Leadership training teaches calm boundaries around food, guests, and chaos. You enjoy the burgers. They enjoy relaxing by your side instead of being sequestered for tackling Uncle Bob for a hotdog.
