It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of the female Uromastyx who recently came to Abigail’s Angels Reptile Rescue alongside the Russian tortoises. 💔
During her veterinary visit last week, Dr. Minson felt something concerning in her abdomen. X-rays revealed that her stomach and intestines were filled with sand. After discussing her condition and treatment options, Dr. Minson and I made the difficult decision to proceed with emergency surgery to remove it.
We hoped so much that surgery would give her a chance to recover. When I called Friday morning to check on her, I received the heartbreaking news that she had passed away during the night.
Even when an animal has only been with us a short time, their life matters deeply to us. We wanted her story to end with healing, comfort, and a loving forever home. Losing her hurts more than words can express.
As Annie and I grieve, there are still other little lives depending on us. Over the past two weeks, we have welcomed many reptiles into the rescue. Every one of them visits our amazing veterinarians, Dr. Coldiron and Dr. Minson at Stoneridge Animal Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma, for a health check and any treatment they need.
We had just paid off our veterinary balance, but it is already back over $500—and that does not yet include her emergency surgery or treatment for the two Woma pythons I picked up today, both of whom have respiratory infections.
We are reaching out to ask for your help. If you are able to contribute, you can call Stoneridge Animal Hospital at 405-359-3340 during business hours and ask to put a donation toward Abigail’s Angels Reptile Rescue’s veterinary bill. Any amount will help us pay for the care these animals need.
If donating isn’t possible right now, sharing this post is another meaningful way to help.
Annie and I cannot do this alone. Your kindness, encouragement, and generosity help us keep going—even through the heartbreaking days. Thank you for caring about these animals and for helping us give them a chance. 🧡
With love and gratitude,
Angé & Annie
