Visitors from California's Central Valley. These two fuzzies were relayed to Ojai Valley Wildlife Care via 3 different transporters . Fox squirrels are being born now, in a second nesting that occurs in many wildlife species.
Our friends from Tehachapi Volunteer Wildlife Transport brought these little beggers to Ojai Valley Wildlife Care to join our batch of fuzzy squirrels and grow up with new friends.

🦝 Meet Our Very Own “Trash Panda”… Literally. 🦝

We may never know how she ended up there, but this baby raccoon was found tied inside a plastic trash bag and left sitting in the road.

Thankfully, a caring person noticed the bag moving and stopped to investigate. Can you imagine their surprise—and horror—when they opened it and found a live baby raccoon inside?

The finder immediately contacted Ojai Valley Wildlife Care, and we took her in to join our group of orphaned babies. Despite what she endured, she has recovered beautifully and absolutely loves her bottle filled with special raccoon formula. 🍼❤️

Sadly, she is only one of many hungry little mouths currently in our care. Would you consider helping us purchase the specialized formula needed to raise her and the rest of the bunch?

🐾 Living with Wildlife: A Bobcat Family in Ventura 🐾

At Ojai Valley Wildlife Care, we encounter many unique wildlife situations, and not every encounter requires intervention.

Recently, we received this video from a concerned homeowner in Ventura. A beautiful bobcat and her adorable kits had chosen to spend time in her backyard. Rather than panicking or requesting relocation, she simply wanted advice on how to safely encourage them to move along on their own.

Ojai Valley Wildlife Care contacted one of our favorite California Department of Fish and Wildlife officers, Jake, for guidance. He was able to provide the homeowner with several humane and effective suggestions to make the area less attractive to the bobcats while allowing them to remain wild and free.

Together, Ojai Valley Wildlife Care and CDFW worked toward the best outcome for everyone involved: keeping these magnificent cats healthy, wild, and unharmed, while helping the homeowner feel safe and informed.

Wildlife belongs in the wild, and in many cases, a little education and patience can prevent unnecessary relocations and allow people and wildlife to coexist successfully. 🐾💚

What are the odds? We took in another tiny, eyes closed Merrium's chipmunk. The chipper from Ojai Valley now has a friend from Lake Isabella near Bakersfield, CA.
Tehàchapi Volunteer Wildlife Transporters is a group from central California that moves orphaned or injured wildlife to other facilities.
Ojai Valley Wildlife Care has received this new chipmunk , as well as several other species from this Tehàchapi group, including several squirrels, rabbits and a skunk.
We are happy to help care for the little creatures where ever they come from.

🍼 Eats tiny amounts of formula 8 times a day.

What is it? A Merriam’s chipmunk — one of the native little wild residents found throughout the foothills of the Ojai Valley. 🌿

This tiny patient is chipmunk intake number 4 for the season, but by far the smallest we’ve received so far. He has a long road ahead, requiring round-the-clock feedings, warmth, and specialized care, but thanks to compassionate finders who stepped in to help, he now has a second chance at life. 💚

Here at Ojai Valley Wildlife Care, he’ll grow up safe and protected until he is healthy, independent, and ready to return to the wild habitat where he belongs.

Wildlife rehabilitation takes hundreds of hours, specialized formula, medical supplies, and dedicated volunteer care. If you would like to help support this tiny survivor and the many babies arriving this season, donations are greatly appreciated via Venmo: 🙏🐿️

🦝🍼 The new crop of babies has officially arrived at Ojai Valley Wildlife Care! These two tiny raccoon kits are just the beginning of what is expected to be a very busy baby season. Raccoon season is a long one, and it’s not unusual for us to still be caring for late-season babies right through the holidays. 🎄

These little ones will receive around-the-clock feeding, care, enrichment, and rehabilitation over the next 5–6 months while they grow strong, healthy, and wild. When they are ready, they’ll be released into a safe natural habitat perfectly suited for raccoons to thrive where they belong. 🌿

Every baby that comes through our doors represents months of dedication from our volunteers, and we’re grateful to everyone who helps by donating to helps support their journey back to the wild. 💚

🖤🤍 New Arrival at Ojai Valley Wildlife Care 🤍🖤

Our newest little patient is a strikingly beautiful striped skunk—just a baby girl—found all alone in the road at Foster Park. Thankfully, a kind and brave Good Samaritan stopped, scooped her up, and got her safely to us.

And yes… baby skunks can spray 😅
They’re just not very good at aiming yet—but trust us, they still pack a punch!

She’s now safe, warm, and getting the specialized care she needs to grow strong and eventually return to the wild where she belongs. 🐾

If you’d like to help support her care (and all the other wildlife we take in), donations make a huge difference. Every dollar goes directly to food, medical supplies, and rehabilitation.
