At our plant sale, we’re setting up a mutual aid growing table.
Here’s how it works:
All of our plant vendors are donating plants to this table. If you sign up to grow for the , you get to choose from those plants for free.
No catch. No cost. Just a simple exchange…
you grow food → it goes back into the community.
If you’ve ever wanted to help but didn’t know how, this is one of the easiest ways to step in. Grow a few extra plants in your garden, drop off what you can, and it becomes fresh food for someone who needs it.
This is what mutual aid actually looks like.
Neighbors feeding neighbors. No middle step.
We’ll have sign-ups at the sale and we’ll walk you through everything you need to know.
Come grab your plants.
Or better yet… come grow with us 🌿

Our Annual Urban Prairie plant sale is happening May 9th, 12–5pm. This isn’t just a quick grab-your-plants-and-go kind of thing… we’ve got 5 local growers bringing their best, so you’ll have a really solid selection to choose from.
Garden starts, heirlooms, unique varieties… the kind of plants that actually want to grow here.
We’ll also have food, good people, and that spring energy that makes you want to go home and dig in the dirt the same day.
If you’ve been thinking about starting a garden, upgrading your space, or just coming out to connect with folks who care about local food… this is your spot.
📍 301 28th St, Ogden

This is what it looks like when a meal stays close to home.
Tonight’s spread was built piece by piece with people I know and trust. Fresh bread from Volker's Bakery, piled high with roasted turkey raised by Argyle Acres and slow roasted by us at Urban Prairie Agriculture. Layers of provolone, fresh toppings, and all the good stuff that turns a simple sandwich into something worth sitting down for.
On the side, a full spread of crisp greens from Urban Prairie Agriculture, a fruit platter, and house-made dressings. Ranch, Greek dill, and a citrus vinaigrette, all made from scratch.
This is what local food really is. Not just ingredients, but relationships. Food that didn’t travel far, didn’t sit long, and didn’t lose its story along the way.
You can taste the difference.

Learning from the farm. Let's talk about a trap crop.
A trap crop is a plant you grow on purpose to attract pests away from your main crops. It’s like giving the bugs a decoy buffet so they leave your good stuff alone.
How to use it: Plant the trap crop a little earlier, or around the edges of your main crop. Pests will go for the trap first. Then you can remove the bugs, cut back the trap plants, or intervene in just that area instead of your whole garden.
Simple, low-cost, and it keeps your food cleaner without spraying everything.
