🥚 Why Do Some Raw Recipes Use Eggshell Instead of Bone?

You may notice that some Complete & Balanced raw recipes contain eggshell instead of ground bone. There's a good reason for that!

🥚 Eggshell is a natural source of calcium. It provides the calcium dogs need while allowing the recipe to maintain the proper calcium-to-phosphorus balance.

Why not just add more bone?

🦴 Too much bone can:
• Make stools hard or chalky
• Increase the risk of constipation in some dogs
• Change the texture and digestibility of the recipe

Using finely ground eggshell allows formulators to meet nutritional requirements without increasing the bone content.

At Albright's and Heartland, ingredients are selected for a purpose. Some recipes use bone, while others use eggshell to achieve the proper mineral balance based on the protein source and overall recipe formulation.
