Astro urgently needs a foster home. He was at Purrs And Pages Ocala cat cafe, but didn't thrive there and that's ok, it's not for every kitty.

He's very social and just wants a lap to curl up in! He followed me around when I was there and was a total love bug.

Please can anyone foster him? He's such a sweet boy. 🐾💜

One of the things we believe strongly at Ocala Pet Sitting is that providing exceptional care means we should never stop learning. 💜

Our owner, Shannon, recently returned from the Florida Pet Services Association Summit in Jacksonville, where she attended as a pet care business owner, served as Vice President of FPSA, and took the stage as a speaker.

For nearly 20 years, continuing education and involvement in professional pet care associations have been a huge part of how Ocala Pet Sitting has grown. But over the years, that involvement has become about something bigger, too: **helping raise the standard of professional cat care throughout the pet sitting industry.**

Cats have traditionally been treated as the "easy" pet sitting visit. Feed them, scoop the litter box, make sure they're okay, and move on.

We believe they deserve so much more than that.

Understanding feline behavior, recognizing subtle changes in health, reducing fear and stress, respecting each cat's boundaries, and knowing how to build trust with the cat hiding under the bed are all part of professional cat care.

That's why Shannon's Summit presentation this year focused on cats and why she continues to educate and connect with other pet care professionals about doing better for them. 🐈

And none of this happens without an amazing team at home! A HUGE thank you to our Ocala Pet Sitting team for taking such wonderful care of our clients and their cats while Shannon was away. Having a trusted, trained team makes it possible for her to continue learning, teaching, and advocating for higher standards of cat care while bringing everything she learns right back home to Ocala.

And speaking of **20 years...** 👀

We have a pretty big milestone coming up at Ocala Pet Sitting, and we're working on something very special to celebrate it. In true OPS fashion, we don't want the celebration to be only about us. 💜🐈

At OPS we provide lots of enrichment for cats in our care. It really helps them when their owners are away on a trip. 🐾💜😸

Cats experience the world through their incredible sense of smell. In fact, scent is one of the primary ways they gather information about their environment. Every new odor tells them something: Who's been here? Is it safe? Is there food nearby? Has something changed?

While we often think of enrichment as toys and play, scent enrichment is just as important. It gives cats an opportunity to investigate, explore, and satisfy their natural curiosity.

The good news? You don't need to spend money to provide new scent experiences.

Here are a few simple ideas:
🌿 Offer catnip or silver vine
🌿 Let your cat investigate the unfamiliar scents of your groceries or packages.
🌿Collect a few leaves, pinecones, or small sticks from outside and place them in a shallow box for your cat to explore.
🌿Introduce a feather or another safe natural item with a new scent.

It's also important to remember that not all new scents are enjoyable. Strong cleaners, perfumes, air fresheners, and essential oils can be overwhelming or even unsafe for cats.

Summer was rescued from a parking lot in Ocala FL. She is outgoing friendly talkative and intelligent! She's headed to the Purrs And Pages Ocala Cat Cafe and has the highest hopes she will meet her forever family!
