**Meet and greets for approved applicants must happen within 3 days or the closest weekend (for long travelers). It’s in the dogs/puppies best interest to be placed into their furever homes in a timely fashion. All household members must attend the meet and greet.
From the day I brought this fella named Mouse home in May from his southern transit, he’s made me question if he was really that into me. I showed him love first and he accepted it fully until a better offer came along in the form of his foster dad. That guy
taught Mouse all about the joy of morning treats, pets, and tummy scratches. But then, more pretty humans came into our home that he’s shown even more favoritism for in the form of partial hopping up on laps and accepting 2 handed pets and loves. While he
may alert with his booming voice that someone has entered the vicinity, he quickly stops when he realizes the coast is clear.
Once Mouse learned that foster mom putting on a leash was ok because that meant going for a walk, I was the accepted human again. While on walks he does not pull and will look up to human for approval and appropriate accolades with a big old goofy smile. Once the leash comes off, so does his need for me to be in his immediate presence. Final zoomies are expended before heading back into the house for a well-earned nap.
Mouse is happiest when bugging his older foster dog sister like only a little brother could; laying in the sunniest spot on the living room floor or deck, chasing after anything that flies = leaves, grasshoppers, butterflies, bugs, etc.; putting every single
toy in their appropriate spot all over the floor – which generally means anywhere someone can step on them; getting lovings from the selected human of his choosing while giving a side eye to the others in the household making them feel like chopped liver;
and running full tilt outside around the yard enjoying every second of glorious freedom.
This boy is full of personality and has continued to show us every one of them since the day he came to Wisconsin. We don’t know what he experienced in his past life before coming to us, but he’s letting us in on his terms and that's ok. One minute he’s flashing
his lovable smile, then making you melt with his big puppy dog eyes to then showing his disdain for waking him from his afternoon slumber with the most judging of judgy looks. This boy deserves every bit of love and will soak it up when he wants it. So, if you have patience, a calm demeanor, can accept the occasional side eye of denial, and have lots of love to give, this boy is ready to fall in love with his forever home.
