We would like to officially welcome Piper into rescue 🤍

Piper is a 5 year old Great Dane who was surrendered due to an ongoing medical issue that her beloved owner could no longer afford to manage.

That’s where we step in!

Piper has what is commonly called “Happy Tail,” which is especially common in big dogs like Danes who have a very long, very powerful tail that tends to find walls, furniture, doorways… basically anything in its path. 😅 Unfortunately, repeated injuries can make it incredibly difficult for the tail to heal.

We also have some other medical concerns we want to address, particularly why this sweet girl is struggling to keep weight on.

Our plan is to get Piper into the vet this week for a full evaluation. We’ll have her tail assessed and discuss our options for getting it healed once and for all. We do know there is a possibility she may ultimately need part of her tail amputated if it continues to reopen or is at risk of infection. So keep an eye out for a Bakes for Piper fundraiser🧁

For now Piper is getting all the love and attention from her foster and her foster brother Moose (another Great Dane)🤍

**Any negative comments regarding Pipers pervious owner will be deleted and removed from our page**

IVE BEEN ADOPTED
Rex is available for adoption! 🖤🐾

Rex is one of our remaining pups from the Toy Story litter, and apparently he didn’t get the memo about being a smedium sized dog because this boy is growing like an absolute W**D. 😂

At four months old, Rex is primarily Lab and Husky with a whole collection of smaller breeds mixed in. About 90% of his siblings seem to be staying in that small-to-medium range… meanwhile Rex said, “Absolutely not.” We’re excited to see just how big this lanky boy decides to get!

Rex is a certified good boy who is incredibly food motivated and eager to please, which should make continued training with him a lot of fun. With the right training and outlet for his energy, we think he could make an awesome hunting partner, hiking buddy, skijoring companion, or all-around adventure dog.

He would also make a great addition to a family with kids! Like most puppies, Rex is still in his puppy-nibbling phase, but he does a great job responding to boundaries. When the kids tell him to stop, he stops, which has been really great to see at such a young age.

We’ve had Rex in our care since he was just 6 weeks old, and he has been such a character to watch grow up. He’s sweet, goofy, playful, and definitely has some opinions as puppies tend to be. 😂

Rex is still very much a puppy and is continuing to work on things like potty training, kennel training, basic manners, and learning how to be the best grown-up dog he can be. His forever family will need to be ready to continue putting in that time and consistency.

In true September fashion… when it rains, it POURS! ☔️

We’ve had a major uptick in surrenders and rescue requests, which means we need warm, safe places for these animals to land — and our current foster homes are FULL.

We are urgently looking for foster homes for:

🐶 Rex- a 4-month-old Lab/Husky puppy
🐱 A 6 month old spicy kitty who needs some extra time, patience, and rehab
🐱 A mama cat + her SIX kittens coming in Monday
🐶🐶 A bonded small-breed pair (Pug and Chihuahua mixes)

We could really use some extra hands heading into fall. ❤️

If you have a little extra room in your home and heart, please reach out! Even one new foster home makes a HUGE difference. 🐾

Remeet Sugar Bomb 💣🤍

Sugar was surrendered back into our care last week and was promptly posted for adoption. Our rescue policy is that we do not adopt animals back to their previous owners, for the pets safety and wellbeing. Unfortunately, her adoption post resulted in a multi-day situation involving her previous adopter (the same person who had surrendered her that evening), relentlessly attempting to get her back including showing up at my home after she disagreed with the post.

Since then, there have also been multiple attempts to adopt Sugar back through various people. For her safety and ours, Sugar has essentially been in “protective custody” for the last week while we allowed the situation to settle.

We are hopeful that chapter is now closed so we can get back to what actually matters (!!!) finding Sugar the forever home she deserves.

Sugar is a 9-month-old Lab/Husky mix roughly 45lbs (she’s a little chunky) and an absolute goofball. She has energy for DAYS and would make an excellent skijoring, hiking, or adventure buddy. Despite all that puppy energy, she also settles very well when it’s time to relax.

Sugar is incredibly dog friendly and absolutely loves having other dogs around. She has been housed with multiple Huskies, so she’s definitely learned to play rough and rowdy and would do best with canine friends who appreciate that style of play.

She is great with kids (supervised) she will eat their snacks!!

She is sweet, silly, affectionate, and still very much a puppy. She needs someone ready to give her the consistency, exercise, training, and commitment that comes with adopting a young dog.

Sugar has already had enough transitions in her short life. We want her next home to be her last. 🤍

⚠️ Due to the circumstances surrounding her recent surrender and for the safety of Sugar and our rescue team, we will not be considering adoption applications for Sugar from anyone located on FWW.

September is Su***de Prevention Month 💜

You might be wondering, “You’re an animal rescue—why is this important to you?”

Because while we spend our days rescuing, advocating for, and loving dogs, cats, and other animals in need, we are still humans with our own lives, struggles, and battles outside of rescue.

Mental health is personal to members of our team. One of our board members is a veteran and understands firsthand some of the challenges veterans can face during and after their service. Other members of our rescue lives with C-PTSD, as well as OCD, and anxiety. Like so many people and families, members of our rescue have been touched by mental health struggles in different ways.

And sometimes, animals are part of what gets us through.

Dogs and cats can provide companionship, routine, comfort, and a reason to get out of bed on the days when everything feels impossible. Sometimes having a little creature depending on you can be one of the things that helps you hold on.

Su***de prevention isn’t just about recognizing a crisis. It’s about checking on your people. Being kind when you don’t know what someone is carrying. Listening without judgment. Reminding someone that their presence matters.

So this September, while we continue advocating for the animals who need us, we’re also taking a moment to advocate for the humans beside us.

To anyone who has struggled with suicidal thoughts in the past, anyone struggling right now, and anyone who has fought through days they weren’t sure they’d survive:

We’re thankful you’re still here. 💜

Please check on your people. Be kind to strangers. And remember that asking for help is never something to be ashamed of.

Meet Daisy! 🌼💛

Daisy is a 6-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever who is looking for her forever home to live out her golden years.

Daisy is being rehomed due to becoming possessive over her owner’s infant. Her family made the difficult but responsible decision to find her a home where everyone, (including Daisy) can feel safe and comfortable. She has been staying with a friend for a while and has been doing great, but she now needs a permanent place to call home.

Outside of the possessiveness surrounding the infant, Daisy has no known behavioral concerns. She has been doing just fine with her foster’s 5-year-old, but because of her history, we would like to find her a home without infants or very young children to set her up for success.

Daisy is dog and cat friendly, kennel trained, and an all-around wonderful Lab. She also has the drive and instincts to make a great bird-hunting companion for someone looking for a dog to join them in the field. She may need some swim lessons, and a life jacket if in large bodies of water however.

At 6 years old, Daisy still has plenty of life, love, and adventures ahead of her. She deserves a home where she can settle in, be loved, and never have to worry about moving again. 💛

If you think Daisy could be the missing piece in your family, send us an application!
