FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc. FIDO's Companion Inc. Weekly we rescue dogs as well from many other rural county shelter in mid and southern Ohio and KY before they are put to sleep.

is a small non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating in Lorain County made up of volunteers who perform vital functions in the process of rescuing animals. We primarily rescue dogs from the streets in our County and County Dog Pound or ill/injured dogs coming into our Vet Clinic from Cuyahoga County. We secondarily assist with taking in homeless stray dogs and funding the spay/neuter of homeless d

ogs and cats for other independent local rescuers and vet clinics who take them in off the street and work to rehome them. Lastly, we help fund the Spay/Neuter of dogs that low income owners cannot afford. FIDO's Companion rescue strives to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment and be lifetime companions for each dog we rescue. Our focus is on the QUALITY of life we provide to one canine companion at a time. FIDO's Companion believes that the value of what we do is not in the Quantity of animals we save, but in the Quality of the new life we provide to them. We also know we cannot rescue our way out of pet overpopulation, therefore, we work in our rescue and with our community to ensure spay/neuter is achieved for animals we come into contact with or are made aware of needing altered. We also strive to educate the public including school age children about humane treatment of animals and the importance of spaying and neutering pets

Meet Platypus… better known as Platty! 🦆❤️
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a platypus somehow turned into a dog, we’re pretty sure the result would be Platty.

This almost 2-year-old pocket pittie is a delightfully goofy boy with a personality as unique as his name. Platty is famous for his silly snorting noises, awkward movements, and absolutely adorable run that can only be described as “organized chaos.” Thanks to some neglect earlier in life, his front legs are a little bowed and extra large, giving him an even more platypus-like appearance. Don’t worry though—Platty doesn’t let that slow him down one bit! He gets around just fine and seems completely unaware that he looks hilariously adorable while doing it.

Platty is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs. He loves to play and brings a whole lot of enthusiasm to the party. Like many pitties, he enjoys mouthy wrestling games and often accompanies playtime with an assortment of funny noises. His play style can be a little over-the-top for some dogs, but he has a lot of fun with canine friends who appreciate his goofy energy and are happy to join in on the fun.

He’s also surprisingly great with cats! Platty enjoys having feline friends around, especially cats that don’t mind a little playful interaction and might even be interested in sharing a cuddle session afterward.

Platty has met kids and loves being part of the action. However, because he’s still a little mouthy & learning that random items left on the floor aren’t automatically his personal treasures, we think he’d do best in a home with teenage children or older.

This sweet boy is both house-trained and crate-trained. While he can be a little timid when meeting new people—especially men—once he feels safe, his loving personality shines through. Platty would do best in a quieter home where he can build confidence and doesn’t have to constantly adjust to new visitors coming and going.

If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh every single day, fill your home with silly noises, goofy antics, and endless entertainment, Platty might just be the wonderfully weird best friend you’ve been waiting for. He may not be an actual platypus, but he’s definitely one-of-a-kind!

🚨FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED🚨

Meet Zoey! 🐾

Zoey is a 1-year-old, 70 pound Akita mix with a sweet, playful personality and a whole lot of love to give! She loves everyone she meets and has done well with the other dogs she’s been introduced to.

Zoey is playful, does great in her crate, and is currently working on her basic commands. She’s a smart girl who is eager to learn—although she’s still working on remembering that four paws belong on the floor! 😂

Zoey can be a little hand-shy when having her leash put on, but once she’s ready to go, she walks nicely on leash. She can also be a little nervous at times, so we think she would be happiest in a home with kids over 10 who can give her the space and confidence she needs.

Zoey is a sweet young girl who just needs a family to continue showing her that the world is a safe and happy place. With a little patience, continued training, and lots of love, she’s going to make an amazing companion!

This sweet boy can be a little shy at first, but with patience and love, he blossoms into a loyal, loving companion. 💕 He absolutely loves being outside and would benefit from a confident dog in the home to help build his confidence.

Cadbury is very food-motivated, does well with respectful kids, and is learning his leash skills. Like any young pup, he’ll need consistency and routine as he continues working on potty training.

Meet Sami!

Sami is year old and at 45 pounds, a little underweight, so we’re helping her gain some healthy pounds with plenty of good food and treats. ❤️

This sweet girl is the total package—gentle, loving, playful, and absolutely obsessed with people. She enjoys other dogs but is also perfectly happy doing her own thing. Give her a bunny or squirrel to sniff out, though, and her inner Elvis comes out! 🐰🐿️

Sami loves long sniffy walks, cuddles, belly rubs, and is discovering how much fun toys can be. She’s completely housebroken, crate-trained, settles beautifully when left alone, and greets her favorite people with full-body wiggles.

Meet Pepper!

Pepper is a 1-year-old brindle Cane Corso mix weighing about 56 pounds of pure sweetness. While she may take a minute to warm up to new people, once she realizes you’re her friend, she is all in—this girl becomes the ultimate snuggle bug and loyal companion.

Pepper would thrive in a home with another dog. She absolutely loves having canine friends around and is happiest when she has a buddy to romp and play with—even if her housemates sometimes aren’t quite as enthusiastic as she is! She is also good with cats, making her a great fit for many different households.

Meet Chanel — a stunning 3 year old German Wirehaired Pointer weighing 57 lbs with the sweetest soul behind her reserved demeanor. Chanel may take a minute to settle in, but once she does, she is incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate with her people.

Chanel is both potty trained and crate trained, making her an easy addition to a home willing to give her the structure and exercise she needs. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs and would enjoy having canine friends to romp around with.

As a typical sporting breed girl, Chanel is athletic and active. She can easily hop a 4.5-foot fence, so she will require either a very tall secure fence or a family committed to leash walks and exercise rather than simply letting her out in the yard. She thrives when she has both physical activity and guidance from her humans.

Chanel has done well around children, but she will need a family that is willing to provide clear boundaries and consistency so she doesn’t become overly protective of her people. With the right leadership, Chanel is an amazing companion who is equal parts fun, loving, and devoted.

Meet Jackson!

Jackson is a 1 year old, 51 pound boxer mix who is fully vetted & crate & potty-trained.

Behind those puppy dog eyes is a sweet, goofy personality. Jackson is basically a lanky puppy with with a playful spirit and a big heart. Jackson has a passion for play, which he shows everyday in his foster home. Toys are his favorite thing and he loves when you join him in the fun!
Sometimes he gives you random big play bows that are super charming. He has also enjoyed playing with other young, goofy dogs in his foster home. Plus, he has done well hanging around with cats!

Jackson is young and still learning about the world around him, but he's a sweet boy who has been a pretty easy-going house guest. He can still get jumpy and do some roughhousing when he is excited, so he is looking for a home without younger kids.

Jackson is ready to find a loving, toy-filled home of his own.
