Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue is a Southern California-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides rescue, sanctuary and training for special needs corgis. We provide them with medical and behavioral rehabilitation before adopting them into “furever” homes. We strive to find families that will be lifelong companions to our dogs and promote responsible pet ownership. Queen's Best Stumpy Do

g Rescue's mission is to rescue special needs corgis from California's high kill shelters. We place great emphasis on medical care and rehabilitating our dogs through socialization and relationship based balanced training until their "furever" home is found. All contributions are put towards the needs of our dogs. All adoptions are on a “foster-to-adopt” basis, requiring application, interview, home check, completion of a 2day training, contract, and adoption fee at the time of adoption completion. This is to ensure that our dogs go to safe, loving, "furever" homes, where the dog and the family are the right match for each other. We strive to find families that will be lifelong companions and leaders to our dogs. TO DONATE:

Looks like , Bowie, might be going through another flare up. The color and texture of his p**p has changed a bit, and he’s not as plump as he used to be, even with the same amount of food. He has a follow-up with his internist next month at ASG. Until then, games are being kept short, which he isn’t thrilled about. Really hoping his prednisone dosage doesn’t need to be increased, otherwise he’ll be dealing with the return of roid rage and even more thirst and p*e breaks. If you’ve ever been on prednisone, you know how much it messes with the body, but when it’s the most effective medication for inflammation, you do what you gotta do. 😪

HEADS UP Y’ALL - We’ve recently been spammed in the comments of our posts with links to this fraudulent website selling shirts with our name and logo. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OF THEIR MERCHANDISE! This is in no way affiliated with us. Official QBSDR shirts and merch is only available through our direct website and from our booth at events. It’s getting wilder, crazier, and scarier out there. Scammers are getting bolder and many are targeting rescue organizations and y’all’s animal loving hearts. We’ve had multiple attempts in various forms now, so be careful and don’t just send your money anywhere or buy impulsively!

Of all the dogs we’ve had come through our rescue, hands down, best recall award goes to Oliver. He’s always impressed with his ability to call away from dogs and distractions. Some dogs just thrive on learning commands and working, and Oliver’s one of them. Relationship is key. We have an exciting update to share about this boy, so stay tuned!

Are you experiencing behavioral issues or considering surrendering your corgi? QBSDR is making the transition from INTERVENTION to PREVENTION by providing a safe environment to gain tools, knowledge, and information in order to set up both you and your doggo for success! QBSDR’s philosophy and methodology is relationship-based balanced training to cultivate a healthy relationship of TRUST and RESPECT between you and your dog. At the end of this workshop, we hope that you feel empowered and ready to work through the issues you are experiencing to keep your beloved corgi.

During the hands-on, two-day workshop (Saturday + Sunday, 9am-5pm, includes break for lunch) you and your corgi will learn the Fundamental 5 Rules and Boundaries that we implement for every single dog that comes through our rescue. Corgis are a working breed and need structure in their lives to thrive. Consistency is key so we do recommend all members in the household attend.

If your dog is showing signs of dog or human aggression, we ask that you take the time to muzzle train prior to attending to keep everyone safe. We suggest a Baskerville Ultra basket muzzle (size 2 for standard/smaller corgis, size 3 for larger corgis). This muzzle is readily available at most pet stores and online. We are happy to talk you through the muzzle-training process, just reach out and we’ll set up a time for a call.

If you are interested in attending a this workshop, please email [email protected] for more information.

Throw them stumps up in the air! It’s official - Morty’s been adopted!! 🙌♥️🐾

Morty came to us last May, as a transfer from the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of Southern California, where he was surrendered due to fighting with the other dog in the household. He went into foster care and immediately started rules and boundaries training, muzzle conditioning, and socializing around other dogs.

Morty and his foster mom (now furever mom!) worked incredibly hard together, establishing a relationship where he looked to her for guidance and leadership. Foster dad (now furever dad!) flew out to spend time with Morty, and came to the ranch for rules and boundaries training as well. A bond developed and deepened, not just with mom, but especially with his new dad, who calls Morty his spirit animal.

Morty is living the life as a bicoastal dog and has a new older brofur named Anubis. The boys go on bonding pack walks and are frequently found packing up around the house, recognizing that the two of them are officially a pack. We couldn’t be more happy for Morty and his family! All the hard work they’ve put in to help Morty overcome his past issues and find his place in their home is what we hope every dog is lucky enough to receive. Congratulations Morty, Anubis, Kim, and John!! ♥️🐾

All of our corgis are muzzle trained and use basket muzzles for safety, especially if they have a bite history and will be around other beings. Many corgis and corgparents we meet express interest or a need for basket muzzles in their lives too. Many have been bitten by their own dogs, are dealing with intense reactivity, or both. These basket muzzles are great because dogs can still pant, drink water, take treats, but most importantly, not injure anyone, which lowers everyone’s cortisol levels. There will be moments when your corgi may make poor choices in life, and those moments get stressful not only for them, but for the corgparent holding the leash. If you’re feeling anxious and tense while holding the leash, and worried about your corgi injuring someone, your corgi will feel all of that tension, adding to the feedback loop of stress. When teeth are removed from the equation, the energy shifts. Basket muzzles are not only safety tools, they’re empowerment tools. They’re freedom tools, and quality of life tools. They help everyone have a better life, so to help all you folks and your low-riders out, here’s how you can modify one to better fit your corgi’s face and make it more comfortable for them to wear for extended periods.
P.S. The muzzle is wrapped with chenille yarn.

The face of a that’s happy to be in his new foster home!

It truly takes a village and team effort for responsible rescue to be possible. It’s more than just “rescuing” a dog. Between transporting, homechecks, training, email correspondence, medical care, providing supplies, continued guidance and support - every step plays a role towards the end goal, which is helping low-riders in need, find their furever homes. Providing a safe and stable environment while helping them be seen is what foster families do, and thanks to ’s desire to be a part of the solution, we were able to help Charley after his owners passed away.

A huge thank you to for helping with the homecheck, for transporting Charley, for handling the communications, for foster onboarding, Dr. Stone and her team for getting Charley’s mouth cleaned up, and of course all of our donors and supporters for believing in our mission and cause! !
