Before 10:30 this morning, we had already biked five- miles, squeezed in some secret core strength work, and found a few hidden treasures along the way.

There were moments when it would have been easier to quit, complain, or ask for a ride. Instead, he dug deep, kept pedaling, and made it to the top every single time.

The treasures we found were fun, but they weren't the most valuable thing we discovered today. The real treasure was watching a young boy realize just how strong, capable, and determined he is.

As adults, we sometimes forget how big accomplishments like this feel when you're seven years old. Five miles. Big hills. Hard work. A whole lot of perseverance.

And one very proud kid at the end of it all. 🚲💪❤️

I think the part I love most about this work is that it stops feeling like "work" pretty quickly.

One day you're the new person walking through the door, and before you know it, a toddler is running into your arms, a preschooler is saving you a seat at the table, or a parent is texting you an update because they know you'll genuinely care.

Families let me into some of the most ordinary, vulnerable, beautiful parts of their lives. The messy kitchens. The bedtime routines. The hard days. The victories that seem small to everyone else but mean everything to them.

As someone who spent years in work that often showed up in the middle of crisis, there is something really healing about being invited in to help families thrive instead. To be part of the prevention. To give parents a chance to rest, reconnect, work, travel, heal, or simply breathe.
I don't take that trust lightly.

So, thank you to the families who have welcomed me in, made room for me at your tables, handed me your babies, introduced me to your pets, and let me witness your children becoming exactly who they're meant to be.

I love this little business more than I can explain. And I feel really lucky that this is the life I get to build. ❤️

Another amazing perk of this work is that sometimes families welcome my babies along for the adventure.

And by babies, I mean my dogs. 🐾❤️

One of the reasons I left social work was because I was always gone. I spent years caring for others while missing the little moments with the ones I was working for waiting for me at home. As much as I loved the children and families I was supporting, I hated being away from mine.

Now, every so often, a family says, "Bring the dogs!"

Those days are the best.

They get extra walks, kisses, new smells, belly rubs, and plenty of attention, while I get the peace of mind that comes from having them close by. Not every family is a fit for it, and that's completely okay, but when it works, it's such a special gift.

To the families who have welcomed my four-legged kids into their homes and adventures, thank you. It means more than you probably realize.

Being a nanny comes with a lot of wonderful perks, but getting to spend more time with my babies while doing work I love is definitely near the top of the list. 🐶💕
