Please join me in showing some appreciation for Oscar! ❤️🐾

For the past three years, Oscar has been one of the incredible volunteers who helps keep our rescue moving forward. Whether he's walking dogs, delivering pet food to families in our community who need a helping hand, or opening his home to foster dogs who would benefit from exposure to children, he is always willing to step up when needed.

With three kids of his own, Oscar has fostered a dozen or so dogs over the years, helping them gain valuable experiences that prepare them for successful adoptions. He is not only an amazing volunteer but also a wonderful friend.

Oscar is also stepping up to help tackle our current laundry crisis. We have at least 25 loads of rescue laundry that need to be washed within the next five days, and he's volunteered to help lighten the load. Going forward, he plans to help us stay caught up with regular laundromat runs.

Rescue work isn't just about the animals—it's about the people who quietly show up, over and over again, to make a difference. Oscar is one of those people.

Oscar is a bit camera-shy, so you'll have to imagine the smile behind this post. 😊

If you'd like to help support our rescue laundry needs, donations are always appreciated. Laundry detergent, quarters, laundromat fees, and other cleaning supplies add up quickly, especially when caring for so many animals.

Thank you, Oscar, for your time, your generosity, and your unwavering support of our rescue and the animals we serve. We couldn't do this without you. ❤️🐾

Two weeks post-trauma specialist appointment with Avery.

The odds of meaningful neurological recovery are very low. Not zero. Not impossible. Just very low.

The hardest part of it all is that it's not telling me what to do. It doesn't make the decisions easier. It doesn't answer the questions that immediately follow:

Is Avery comfortable?
Is she happy? Will she be happy? Can she be happy? Can she have a quality of life?
Can I sustain the financial cost of her care?

Those are the questions that matter to me most.

Today wasn't just a medical appointment. It was a grief appointment too.

I hoped for signs of recovery. Instead, I was told there was no neurological improvement, and she has already lost significant muscle mass.

At the same time, they were pleased with her body condition. Meaning no signs or evidence of urine scalding, no UTI, no damage or skin sores, no missing fur, and no signs of discomfort in sensitive areas.

Pleased with my capabilities of keeping up with her physical care. I'm confident I can do the same for her mental health too.

The cruel part is that both things can be true at once.

💜 Avery is being cared for exceptionally well. It's what I do.

💔 No matter how much I do and try, her diagnosis is still poor.

Neither one cancels the other.
Her diagnosis is still poor. What do I do with those words?

I have a handful of new foster homes but I have no available dog crates. Does anyone have any large, or larger willing or able to donate? Or sponsor a used one from fb market place?

Wabash has one available for $30 but we have 0 available funds. Need to be in good safe condition with no wires missing or bent/sticking out.

Let me know if you can drop off at our nearest foster to you. I could arrange a pick up or meet up.

Hello. My name is Cinthya, but everyone calls me Cyndie.

I am a cuteness aggression addict.

I have smooshed cheeks, delivered excessive kisses, buried my face in fuzzy necks, squeezed tiny bodies, and, in moments of complete weakness, gently pinched a tongue hanging out of the side of a mouth. I am ashamed to admit that on rare occasions, I have even used my teeth.

I am weak.

I am an addict.

And I have absolutely no intention of seeking rehabilitation.

Cuteness aggression addiction is very real.

My drug of choice? Senior Chihuahuas. Or any small breed sporting chicken wing-legs, a larger-than-life sassafras personality, a permanently sideways tongue, an Olympic-level commitment to snacks, and an attitude that says, "I tolerate your existence."

Bonus points if they actively express annoyance toward me.

The last time I used was yesterday while visiting Chiquita.

Fortunately for me, I'll always be able to get my fix.

Because Chiquita has officially been adopted and now answers to Magnolia.

So today isn't just another day—it's Magnolia's Gotcha Day.

Congratulations, sweet girl. May your days be filled with snacks, soft beds, endless love, and just enough side-eye to keep everyone in line.

Happy Gotcha Day, Magnolia! ❤️🐾🌸

Being brave does not mean fear disappears. It means believing in something that means something much bigger than us.
