🚨 RARE BREED ALERT! 🚨

Today we're celebrating a very special member of our pack… OUR MANAGER!

This rare breed has been roaming the halls of Santa Cruz County Animal Care & Control for an impressive 38 YEARS! Yes, you read that right… 38 years of dedication, patience (especially with us), and managing a facility full of animals… and an even wilder group of employees!

Often spotted keeping everyone on their toes, handling the daily chaos, and probably wondering what his staff has gotten themselves into THIS time!

If you happen to spot this rare breed out in the wild today, be sure to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

All jokes aside, 38 years of service is something truly worth celebrating. We're grateful for his dedication, and everything he has done for our department, our community, and the countless animals that have crossed his path.

Happy Birthday, LT! We hope your day is special.

⚠️ HEAVY RAIN ALERT ⚠️

With heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted for Santa Cruz County, we want to remind all pet owners to take extra precautions!

We know what storms can bring. Frightened dogs escaping their yards, running through the streets, and sadly, sometimes getting hit by vehicles.

If you know your pet is afraid of thunder, ACT NOW! Bring them indoors, secure your gates and fences, and make sure they have proper identification.

Let's prevent these pets from roaming the streets scared, getting injured, or ending up at our shelter.

Our goal is to keep pets safe and where they belong.... HOME, with their families!

A little preparation today can prevent a heartbreaking situation tomorrow.
Please be responsible. Their safety depends on YOU!

A little glimpse of today

A big round of applause to all the organizations and partners who came together for our community and such a great cause!

This was a much-needed event, and we truly hope it’s one of many more to come. A huge thank you to the VFW post 2066 for opening your doors and allowing us to use your facility. ♡

It truly takes a village, and we are proud to stand alongside some of the very best!

We had lots of satisfied fur parents…and maybe a few pups and kitties who weren’t too happy about their vaccines lol! But most importantly, they left healthier and cared for.

To everyone who didn’t get an opportunity to participate this time, stay tuned! We have more events coming up and can’t wait to share them with you.

We had a great turn out today with a huge THANK YOU to the Scarritt Foundation for making this possible!

Pet Wellness checks were full, spay and neuters filled on the first day of announcing and supplies were distributed!

Thank you Santa Cruz County Animal Care & Control and the Nogales VFW Post 2066 for allowing us use of the space.

We had a great turn out and look forward to doing this again. ✨
