Limiting the public into dog shelters is more beneficial than some can adapt to.
In years past & currently our shelters have received a ruthless public lashing as to why shelter directors implemented limited public access to the dogs.
It will always be our first priority the safety and wellbeing of our dogs. The constant flow of strangers is stressful for dogs, a risk to them and a risk to others. It is not worth the risk of our dogs lives.
Social Media is a powerful tool we can rely on that is stress freeโฆ well for the dogs anyways.
First and foremost any strays that pass evaluations are promoted to local
Rescues first before the public as the City of Niagara Falls ( and most other smaller municipalities ) rely on local
Rescues to take our dogs into their foster adoption programs. Where those rescues will fully vet the dogs according to the NYS companion animal care act.
Please understand, laws and rule are set in place to protect the dogs. Unnecessary Interference is what causes problems amongst the shelter and ultimately hurts the dogs.
Please follow the rules & play nice so we can work together to save the animals in our own neighborhoods.
