Newry Lions donated $250 to the Lions Leader dog program before Bark In The Park to take advantage of a matching donation by Lions International.

For over 85 years, Leader Dogs for the Blind has been transforming lives—and it all started with Lions.

Join us for a powerful look into the Leader Dog Campus in Rochester, Michigan, where President & CEO Melissa Wise shares how Lions Clubs International and LCIF support free guide dog training, orientation and mobility programs, and teen summer camps for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

From 400+ puppy raisers to 4,900 supporting Lions clubs, this is a true testament to what happens when We Serve.

The new Bark In The Park organizers have started a new page. The new page has only 28 followers. They want this page, the original Bark In the Park page to be removed even though it has 220 followers. There are so many good memories here it is hard to erase it all.

Here is an update on Future Leader Dog JaeJae who was a Very Important Dog at this year's Newry Lions Bark In The Park!

JaeJae has been away at Lions Leader Dog Training School in Rochester Michigan. JaeJaer's handler Lion Trish, past Lions District Governor from District 14L, has this report on his progress:

We wanted to let you know that JaeJae has started Foundations training! The canine care team that has been working with JaeJae has some comments to pass along.

Some things that JaeJae is working on are:
Settling for quiet village.

Some things that JaeJae is good at:
Calm treat taking, Transporting with a lure.

Something JaeJae excels at doing:
Transporting with a figure 8 loop, Handler's Exam.

In his free time he likes to:
Explore, Cuddle, Get ear scratches.

Something unique we noticed about JaeJae is that he especially loves exploring campus outdoors and the halls of the canine development center. He doesn't leave any sniffs behind!

When the opportunity for playtime in the pool arises, he will turn in circles with his head down creating a whirlpool of his own. JaeJae is the best cuddler! He is so attentive and looks up at you with the biggest puppy eyes like he's saying thank you for the rubs.

District 14l's Trish and Jason have also raised FLD Beacon. He is now the Canine Ambassador at the Lions Waycross Georgia camp for the blind. Below is his report card from around the same time as JaeJae's training.

The Lions Leader Dog Program is expanding to 400 dogs this year. Puppy raisers and other helpers are needed. For more info see https://www.leaderdog.org/volunteer/raise-a-puppy/faqs/
