🚨📣 HELP WANTED: SOCIAL MEDIA & EVENTS 📣🚨

This is a post we never thought we’d need to make, but here we are.

Between caring for dozens of senior and special needs animals, managing the sanctuary, handling medical appointments, fundraising, and raising young children, social media has become the ball we keep dropping.

The hardest part is that every one of our oldies deserves to have their story told. They deserve to be celebrated, remembered, and shared with the people who love them. We’ve experienced several losses the last couple months, and while we want to update everyone and honor those lives, finding the time and emotional energy to sit down and create content often feels impossible.

So we’re looking for help.

🐾 Social Media Volunteer

We’re looking for someone who loves storytelling and would be willing to help us create content for Silver Paws Golden Days.

What this would look like:
• We provide photos, videos, updates, and information.
• You create graphics, reels, slideshows, photo edits, and captions.
• Initially, we’ll handle posting and scheduling ourselves.
• As trust develops, we’d potentially be open to providing limited account access in the future.

Experience is wonderful, but passion for animals and strong communication skills are even more important.

🎉 Events Volunteer

We’re also looking for someone who enjoys planning and organizing events.

This person would help brainstorm, coordinate, and potentially lead fundraising and community events for the sanctuary throughout the year.

BREAKING NEWS: Lincoln has officially begun his mission to review every pup cup in the OKC metro.

From local coffee shops to the big national chains, he is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the dogs of Oklahoma. Someone has to do the hard work.

And listen… Lincoln may be a little guy, but 7 Brew did NOT disrespect him with one of those sad little “here ya go buddy” whipped cream lids.

No ma’am. They put some RESPECT on his name and handed this man a WHOLE pup cup.

We wanted so badly for this story to have a different ending.

We were supposed to get so much more time with Zenon. (Pinky to many of you.)

Truthfully, we had already fallen in love with her before she got here. Our phones were full of fundraiser ideas, t-shirt designs, and plans for her future.

Yesterday we picked her up and drove straight to Waterloo Animal Hospital for answers.

And the answers were heartbreaking.

Zenon wasn’t just “a little different.” Parts of her body simply never developed.

Her spine and pelvis never fully fused. She had no a**s and no complete intestinal tract. Her body had been trying to survive for months without a normal way to pass stool.

The x-rays showed her abdomen was severely impacted with f***s because there was nowhere for it to properly go. The constant leaking only happened because liquified stool could slowly move around the impaction.

And unlike some of our paralyzed dogs, Zenon could feel everything. The irritation and pain in that area was already so severe that even gentle cleaning caused discomfort.

Our veterinarians even consulted with Oklahoma State’s veterinary team to fully understand every possible option before making this decision. Similar surgeries have an incredibly poor prognosis, including 50% dogs not surviving surgery at all. Those who do face lifelong pain, infections, irritation, and incontinence.

With how severe Zenon’s abnormalities were, we could not put her through repeated major surgeries with so little chance at comfort on the other side.

So, with the guidance of our veterinarian, we made the heartbreaking decision to let her go peacefully.

What we want people to know is that Zenon was deeply loved every step of the way. By the time she reached us, she had already been loved by an entire village of people trying to help her.

She got cuddles, soft voices, all the treats, and a proper chicken nugget feast before she left us.

Sometimes rescue looks like fighting. Sometimes rescue looks like giving them peace.

(Yeah… we’re making vet bills adoptable now 😂)

Behind every happy senior dog or cat curled up in a cozy bed here… there’s usually a medical bill that helped get them there.

Bloodwork.
Pain meds.
Dentals.
Eye drops.
Surgeries.

The stuff that helps these animals feel comfortable, safe, and like themselves again.

So we’re trying something new:

Some of our seniors are due for routine care right now, but we’ve had to pause some appointments until we catch up financially a bit.

Every dollar donated right now is being MATCHED up to our first $2,500.

And honestly? When everybody throws in a little bit, it adds up to a whole lot!

Louie and Spike came to us in May 2024 after their mom had to go into a nursing home. She loved them so much—but her family just couldn’t take on two senior boys and everything that comes with that.

They’re not glued to each other all day. They’ve got their own routines, their own spots, their own little lives here. But they always circle back. Somehow they always end up together again, like nothing ever changed.

Louie is the white one. Spike is his older brother, and he’s blind. And still—he just trusts. He follows Louie, he listens, he figures it out. It’s really something to watch.

They landed with the best Comfort Club foster who just…gets them. They’re so loved.

And that’s it, really. They’re together. They’re safe. And they don’t have to worry about what comes next anymore.
