Canine Angels Service Dogs Canine Angels Service Dogs trains rescued dogs to become certified service dogs to assist disabled vets, children, & first responders in SC/NC. Thanks!

Since 2011, our nonprofit began rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters to train for veterans and first responders in the Coastal Carolinas. Our certified service dogs assist the heroes to whom we owe our freedom and safety. Our Angels perform tasks to mitigate physical challenges and ease psychological suffering to help veterans resume meaningful lives. PTSD has claimed a higher number of veterans than has combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Your donations help us train more dogs to serve more vets who return with physical and mental disabilities. When we extended our services to families with children who are autistic, the response was overwhelming. Our Canine Angels can lessen the frequency and duration of meltdowns. They comfort the child before the behavior escalates. One of our main concerns for TOBY was Peggy's ability to exercise him and tire him out. Problem solved, as she rides an electric tricycle and has taught Toby to remain on her right to stay out of traffic. A leash would endanger Peggy, and this is where our constant off-leash training shows its value. The ADA allows a service dog to be off-leash if the dog is under complete control and the leash would present a potential danger to the handler. Great work, team!

Not even 24 hours yet, and TOBY is already on the job! He is getting his MOM Peggy out and about for exercise, acting as a neck support behind her head, alerting her during the night to take meds, and being identified as a working service dog in his Molle vest by all who witness him! Congratulations to TOBY, magnificent Belgian Malinois, who graduated to Stability and Mobility Service Dog status today with his new Mom, Peggy. It took Peggy 7 years to find us, but better late than never. She has been dealing with the progression of Parkinson's since 2019, and Toby has learned to stabilize her when dizzy, weak, or losing balance, as well as to act as a brace for her to sit down and to stand up. The two have bonded at incredible speed, and Alpha #1 has quickly become a distant memory. We could not be more thrilled about this propitious beginning, and we will keep you posted on future training and advancements.
