This cutie is Phoebe. Per her mom says she is perfect, but with a spicy side. Phoebe is a puppy mill rescue, around 2 years old. This is her first home and normal dog life. They got her almost a year ago, started off well. Over some time, she got yelled at by a dog on a leashed walk. Mom’s instinct was to move away, which is a good move. But each time they encountered a dog on a walk Phoebe chose to bark at that dog. So mom kept moving away and months later it’s become unappealing. Phoebe has also taken to barking at dogs she sees out her window. With phoebe’s sweet personality, having her react like this at dogs is so sad for her momma. Side note, Phoebe is great with dogs off leash. So I came to the conclusion that being an on leash only reaction, that that first time mom moved her away, likely confused and she didn’t know what else to do.

We have a game plan and I know she’s going to get through this. Our goal is to teach her that dogs on leash are not a threat to her. Oh, I forgot to mention she’s a Havanese…

Double trouble with these two 4 month old siblings, Missy and Charlie. You ask what’s the trouble? It’s their ability to melt your hearts. They are simply the lost adorable doxies I’ve seen in a long time. These pups are signed up for my basic puppy program. So stick around to watch them learn their manners that will allow them to grow into confident dogs with impeccable communication skills.

First puppy of 2026 is Teddy. At 3 months old, Teddy’s parents are learning how to raise a tiny dog after having extra large breeds in the past and with their young children. We all know that puppies require a lot of help navigating their growth milestones, but the size of your puppy doesn’t really affect their needs. Though some ways of teaching might be tweaked, their behavior is the same. Teething, potty training and bite inhibition is our current focus. Follow along to see how I help Teddy’s family grow with him.

An amazing dog trainer, who contributed to how myself and so many other trainers and dog parents saw our dogs as sentient beings, who promoted humane and sciences back training methods. It was her book The Other End of the Leash that got me started with my studies in how dogs think and communicate.
