On Wednesday April 6th at exactly 11:04 pm, I walked into my building and nearly hit the ceiling with the jump scare this cat gave me. She was just laying in front of my door looking so defeated and scared. I picked her up, knocked on my neighbors door and when she answered I said, you guys left your cat out. She opens the door wide and says, my cats are all here as I look in and see them playing. I immediately bring her in, have my mom scan her and she was chipped. All we got was her name. She isn’t even a year old. Her owners obviously left her in front of our door on purpose. She is still trying to adjust and Peach cannot stand her. 🤣 My mom thinks this is God's way of sending us another Macho and Kitty and has decided to keep her. 🤦‍♀️ So, everyone. Meet Minnie. The only good thing her previous owners did was give her a cute name.

El miércoles 6 de abril, exactamente a las 11:04 p. m., entré a mi edificio y casi toco el techo del susto que me dio esta gata. Estaba simplemente recostada frente a mi puerta, con un aspecto totalmente abatido y asustado. La cargué, llamé a la puerta de mis vecinos y, cuando ella abrió, le dije: «Se les quedó la gata afuera». Ella abrió la puerta de par en par y respondió: «Mis gatos están todos aquí», mientras yo miraba hacia adentro y los veía jugando. Inmediatamente la hice entrar, le pedí a mi mamá que le pasara el escáner y resultó que tenía microchip. Lo único que obtuvimos fue su nombre. Ni siquiera tiene un año de edad. Sus dueños, obviamente, la dejaron frente a nuestra puerta a propósito. Todavía está tratando de adaptarse, y Peach no la soporta. 🤣 Mi mamá cree que esta es la forma que tiene Dios de enviarnos a otros Macho y Kitty, y ha decidido quedársela. 🤦‍♀️ Así que, a todos: les presento a Minnie. Lo único bueno que hicieron sus dueños anteriores fue ponerle un nombre lindo.

Today is this baby girls 16th birthday! She still has the energy of a puppy. Happy birthday my Mia. Can't believe you're sweet 16! 🥹🥳

5 years ago today our beautiful Kitty left this world, taking her last breath in our arms. The only comfort I have is knowing she's with Macho and Dandy. Our girl was only 7 years old and although her time with us here was brief, the love and memories are forever. 🐈‍⬛️🙏❤️‍🩹

14 years ago today, a dream became a reality.
My brother and I were unexpectedly blessed with a significant sum of money. Without hesitation, we placed it entirely in our mother’s hands and told her to do whatever she felt called to do. She had given us life, a home, food on the table, clothes on our backs, and an education. This was our way of honoring that.
Within weeks, Dandy & Mia’s Pet World opened its doors.
What began as a small shop selling pet food and supplies quickly grew into something bigger. A sanctuary for the community. We helped rescue and rehome countless animals. We provided grooming, surgeries, medications, and compassionate care. In the midst of building the business, our mother put herself through veterinary school, turning passion into profession.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported us from the very beginning and trusted us with their beloved pets.
While the storefront has since closed and our mother has retired from the veterinary hospital in Mount Vernon, her dedication has not wavered. She continues to offer services from our home when needed.

Hoy hace 14 años, un sueño se hizo realidad.
Mi hermano y yo fuimos bendecidos inesperadamente con una importante suma de dinero. Sin dudarlo, la pusimos completamente en manos de nuestra madre y le dijimos que hiciera lo que se sintiera llamada a hacer. Ella nos había dado la vida, un hogar, comida, ropa y educación. Esta fue nuestra manera de honrarlo.

Lo que comenzó como una pequeña tienda de comida y suministros para mascotas se convirtió rápidamente en algo más grande. Un santuario para la comunidad. Ayudamos a rescatar y reubicar a innumerables animales. Ofrecimos peluquería, cirugías, medicamentos y atención compasiva. Because we provide services from our home, and use a section of our space to help our community. We do not publicly just give out our address. If you want to make an appointment you must TEXT Gladys Colon at 347-772-0183 with your name, type of pet you have, and why it is you need an appointment. If your pet is bleeding, not eating or drinking water. Please have the common sense to go to an emergency pet hospital. DO NOT WAIT until you can come to us. If you had a child and an emergency would you wait for an appointment with a doctor or go to the Emergency Room? Please use your head.

The current weather isn't ok for you to walk your dogs without a coat or boots. And, yes. These exist for dogs. If you do not have the proper and safe attire to walk them, DO NOT TAKE THEM OUTSIDE! The same way you wouldn't want to be cold, the same way you bundle up a baby before going out. Think of how a dog can't even verbally tell you they're cold or in pain. Also, taking them out to create a tiktok video or content isn’t funny.

El tiempo actual no es adecuado para pasear a tus perros sin abrigo ni botas. Y sí, existen abrigos y botas para perros. Si no tienes la ropa adecuada y segura para pasearlos, ¡NO LOS SAQUES A LA CALLE! De la misma manera que tú no querrías pasar frío, debes abrigar a tu perro antes de salir, igual que abrigarías a un bebé. Piensa que un perro no puede decirte con palabras que tiene frío o que le duele algo. Además, sacarlos a la calle solo para grabar un video de TikTok o crear contenido no tiene ninguna gracia.

We truly hope everyone had a beautiful and peaceful Christmas. The holidays can be rough for those of us celebrating without a loved one or a pet. Things truly are never the same. We recently just marked 11 years of living in our current place. It's the longest we've ever lived in one particular place. This is where we had our last years with Dandy. The majority of our memories and milestones with him. We will always love and miss him. Here's hoping the best in 2026 for all. Wishing you more happiness, love, success, money, and everything else your heart desires. 🎄✝️❤️

3 years ago today we had to make the most difficult decision. We had to let Dandy go. Life has never felt the same since. He wasn’t “just a dog.” He was my baby, my child, my comfort, my constant, my safe place. He loved me without conditions, without hesitation, and without ever asking me to be anything other than who I was. That kind of love changes you forever.

3 years have passed, but the love hasn’t faded. I still feel him in some moments, in the habits that never left, in the part of my heart that learned what true devotion feels like. Dandy showed me what pure love looks like. And I will carry that with me for the rest of my life. Missing him is the price of loving him, and I’d pay it again every time. EVERY. TIME. IN. EVERY. LIFE. You're always with me my love. Missing you forever and ever until forever. 😭💔
