Hi everyone!
So Jupiter is between 2.5/3 years old, we are unsure as she was adopted December. Even though we do not know her background, she has been badly beaten before being left on the main motorway South Spain.
I have had dogs all my life, but she is a challenge, she is now comfortable with me, hubby and kids, but men are a huge issue, roads/traffic are a no go and so is coming off the lead.
We have had training help since getting her but, for her safety she has 2 leads on a harness at all times or a 10 meter lead when we are in quieter safe zones, we have a recreation area in our pueblo that is fenced in, so she is exercised there daily off the lead to run off more steam. Now even though she comes with lot's of mental issues, she is such a loving dog but, sleeping is a nightmare. Crating is not an option, she must have been kept as a hunting dog previously and in a small howler as the crate causes her serious stress, we have even left it in a large area for her to go in as a safe space but that hasn't helped, so bedtime she is our room. It is dark, no toys for her just water and we have a fan that's taken a month for her to get used to...the issue is she wakes up anything from 4 to 5am and there's no going back to sleep. She goes for lot's of walks, so it's not lack of exercise. Me and hubby now resemble someone off walking dead! We have tried cannabis oil, calming edibles for dogs...none of them work. This last week she has started nipping and running around the house like its the wall of death, then charges at you, nothing nasty, but trying to play in a boss kind of way, if that makes sense?
I have put it off for a while now but I have ordered a vibration collar, as her manners are none-existent, and even though she's she's been with us since December, she is still a nervous wreck...
So if anyone has any ideas for the early morning rising I would really appreciate it, she is here to stay with us, we made a commitment when we adopted her, we love her dearly and she is starting to trust us, but we work and need to sleep. Going to sleep is not an issue, its waking up, and not settling back down.
