It’s not magic, it’s ✨ CLARITY & LEADERSHIP ✨

Luther is here to work on his dog reactivity, impulse control, and build his confidence in general.

This is his 4th week here and he already started making good choices and taking feedback (appropriate correction) from our helper dog(s) as he’s learning not only to communicate better instead of always lashing out but also reading other dogs better as well.

This is just one of the many things I check off the list before I ever take the leash off of a dog on a trail 📋✍🏻✅

The meaning of “Come” is this:
Come to me AND stay with me until I tell you otherwise.

So if I stand still, you stay around me. You can stand, sit, lay down, it’s up to you. Don’t sniff though.

If I walk, you walk by my side. Still no sniffing, unless I say “let’s go”. Then you’re free to leave me and do whatever you want as long as it’s safe and appropriate.

No chasing squirrels either - that’s a different cue for another time.

The first week is about regulation, safety, and clarity.

We focus on helping the dog settle into a new environment, while building a clear and consistent way to communicate.

That means:
- allowing decompression and environmental processing
- introducing pressure in a way the dog can understand and succeed with
- guiding them through hesitation instead of leaving them stuck
- creating safety through structure, space, and predictability
- and assessing how they feel around other dogs without forcing interaction.

As the dog becomes more comfortable, we start building engagement through play. This is where confidence and relationship really start to grow.

Play also allows us to introduce important concepts, like disengaging, switching between states, and learning how to regulate arousal instead of staying stuck in stress or over excitement.

Throughout the process we use canine somatic to support the nervous system, helping the dog not just come out of survival mode, but learn how to stay in a more neutral, regulated state as their new baseline.
CONNECT -> REGULATE -> EDUCATE

Co-regulation is the core of our work.
In the moment, we’re not just calming the dog—we’re building from that foundation to shift their nervous system, and that changes future behavior.

📌 Does your dog know the commands…
but everything falls apart the moment a [trigger] shows up?

5✨ review from Kingsley’s Mom 🥳

Such a great team to work with! Team Kingsley is proof that older dogs can and will change for the better when we help them thrive. They all deserve a peaceful life, just like Kingsley and his family 💜

Spatial pressure isn’t just about “making a dog move”; it’s about timing, intention, and awareness.

When used thoughtfully, it can create space and even interrupt a dog’s instinct to flee.

But here’s the part when nuance matter: too much pressure, or pressure at the wrong moment, can do the opposite. It can escalate stress, push the dog further into flight, or even trigger a fight response.

You’re not forcing an outcome - you’re reading the dog, adjusting your energy and body language, and knowing when to apply pressure… and when to release it.

Clarity comes from the handler’s skill—how well they balance pressure with timing.

Connect. Regulate. Educate.
