If we want our dogs to be calm, we need to practice calmness. If we want consistency, we need to be consistent.

This week, we’re celebrating the dogs who make us laugh, keep us company, challenge us, and somehow convince us that sharing the couch was our idea.

One of the best ways we can return all that love? Learn to understand them better.

Your puppy isn’t ignoring you when they jump, nip, chew, pull on the leash, or have an accident in the house. They simply haven’t learned what you’re asking of them yet.
Training starts with communication. When we learn how to communicate in a way our puppies understand, we can teach them what to do instead of constantly correcting what we don’t want.

Clear communication. Consistent boundaries. Plenty of patience. ❀

That means understanding your dog’s limits, practicing important skills before you need them, providing clear and consistent boundaries, and preparing your dog for real-life situations, not just teaching commands.
