Not sure if you are interested but wanted to share as I have learned something today. Especially to those with furry babies. I do Hope my story can help other furrballs and their human families so sharing. I do have pet insurance so 80% covered. Big day for Sammie & I. Visit to internist at one specialty hospital. Vet recommended since Sammie ultrasound showed polyp inside bladder and kidney disease. Could have skipped it and gone straight to surgeon who will monitor her with their internist at other hospital. I learned today Sammie has stage 1 of 4 kidney disease, & the polyp is inside her bladder. Since she has been dribbling for years, I thought it was her food- ugh - could be a good sign not cancer. Next appt given 1hour later. Drove poor Sammie across the island to other specialty hospital to see surgeon. I was fed up and Sammie was jiggling her crate. She is very good, but passed her patience threshold. Surgeon said best to avoid surgery too risky. Many things can affect her well being and her other health issues. So trying new medicine to reduce infections since this is her 3rd. Plus a cranberry supplement, repeating urine culture to monitor infection and another ultrasound to gage any change. First ultrasound report missed some things surgeon said. They said many cats have kidney issues and she can live a while with it, or could worsen to further stages or one day it could kill her. All I can do is give her all I have with love, doctors and care and balance her mental well being too. To shove liquid down her throat doesn't work with her and will only make her wince and run from me and become a scared cat. So pill forms or in food only. This way she can be happy, won't run from me and take all her medicines in food or pill pockets which she is very good at doing. Any advice to feral cat experts how am I doing? How can I get her to play with toys and eventually come upstairs.
Lucy Feral untouchable cat week 9 in house. Still likes crate even though open
Stays in basement even though she can go upstairs. Stays in one section of basement. Only likes to get pet and brushed in her open crate. 2 of my cats go down and stare at her not too close. No reaction from any of them no sounds just looking at each other.
