The little kitten was crying in the rain, her tiny body covered in blue paint. It had hardened on her fur, and she winced as rescuers began trying to remove it. But even when it hurt, she never tried to scratch or bite the people helping her.

They picked her up and took her straight to a vet. Beneath all that blue was a weak little kitten who needed food, treatment and someone willing to be gentle with her.

Getting the paint off would take time.

Her caregivers worked carefully, comforting her whenever she showed signs of pain. Some of her fur came away during the cleaning. They had to go slowly, giving her breaks while they worked to free her body from the hardened coating.

At first, she was still too weak to eat enough on her own. They helped feed her with a syringe and stayed close as she recovered.

Then she began eating by herself.

She drank water on her own, too. And as more of the paint came off, soft white and gray fur began to appear.

They named her Blue.

Little by little, she gained weight and grew stronger. She became attached to the people caring for her, wanting to stay close to them as she learned her way around her new surroundings.

Soon, she started meeting the other rescued animals. The kitten who had arrived weak and covered in paint began running, playing and keeping her caregivers busy.

A year passed.

Blue was no longer the skinny little kitten they had carried out of the rain. She spent her days playing with her rescued companions, growing into a beautiful cat surrounded by love.

Her life had become much bigger than what had happened to her.
