Please help, mamas. Iām extremely stressed and anxious and really need some advice. ā¤ļø
I gave birth to my baby girl on 23 July 2026 at 36 weeks + 5 days. My breast milk didnāt come properly for almost a week after delivery. During that time, my baby was given formula because she was also developing jaundice, and the doctors were very clear that I shouldnāt let her cry and become exhausted or risk her sugar dropping. They told me that she needed to stay well-fed and hydrated, because drinking milk and passing urine would help with the jaundice.
Because she was on formula from the beginning, she became used to the bottle and gradually started refusing the breast. In the beginning, she would sometimes latch with a ni**le shield and different positions, but now that she is around 5 weeks old, she completely refuses to latch.
I am still pumping with my Momcozy, but Iām struggling so much. Iām alone with her, and she is a very colicky baby. Some nights she is awake and crying almost until 7ā8 AM, so it is incredibly difficult for me to pump 7ā8 times a day. Sometimes I can barely pump once. When I do pump, Iām getting around 2 oz at most, and sometimes much less.
Iām terrified that I have lost my milk supply permanently. š
Is it too late to increase my supply? Can I still relactate? Is there any chance my baby will learn to latch again at this age? What should I actually be doing now?
I have been told so many things by people around me, including that formula-fed babies are sick throughout their lives, and honestly those comments have made my anxiety so much worse. I just want my baby to be healthy. I donāt want her to suffer because I couldnāt breastfeed her.
Please, if anyone has been through something similarāespecially anyone whose baby completely refused the breast and whose supply had droppedāplease tell me what worked for you.
Iām not looking for judgment. Iām already doing my absolute best as a first-time mom, and I just need some kindness, realistic advice, and hope. ā¤ļø
Thank you, mamas.
