🤔 What do you think about this product?

Description: Dual Stage CO2 Regulator Kit w/ Solenoid Valve & Bubble Counter
If you want steadier CO₂ delivery and fewer “surprise swings,” a dual-stage regulator is the upgrade that matters. Unlike single-stage regulators, this Dual Stage CO2 Regulator Kit uses a dual-stage valve design for added safety and reliability—helping reduce the chance of an unintended change in CO₂ output as cylinder pressure drops.
Product Overview
This professional-grade aquatic CO₂ regulator kit is built for planted aquariums where consistency is everything. It includes an electromechanically operated on/off solenoid valve (perfect for a pH controller or timer), a bubble counter for dialing in your bubble rate, and extra regulator seals to keep your setup running smoothly over time.
Constructed from heavy-duty materials, it’s designed to be dependable for daily planted-tank use and also works well for calcium reactor applications where stable CO₂ delivery is equally important.
A clear dual-gauge display allows you to monitor both cylinder (canister) pressure and CO₂ output pressure, so you can see what’s happening in your system at a glance and make precise adjustments with confidence.
Key Features:

Dual-stage reliability: Added stability vs. single-stage regulators to help prevent unintended CO₂ output changes.
Controller/timer-ready solenoid: Automate CO₂ on/off with a pH controller or timer for more consistent daily dosing.
Bubble counter included: Makes it easy to set and monitor your bubble rate.
Heavy-duty build: Designed for dependable long-term use in planted aquariums and calcium reactors.
Dual gauges: Monitor cylinder pressure and output pressure at a glance.
CO2 tank not included.

Together, these features give you a more stable, professional CO₂ foundation—especially for high-growth planted tanks where consistency is critical.

Plant of the day!

Name: Rose Sword (Echinodorus sp. Rose)
Link: https://www.modernaquarium.com/rose-sword-echinodorus-sp-rose-set-of-2-plants/

🤔 What do you think about this plant? Do you have it in your aquarium? If so, drop your pic in comments!

Description: Rose Sword (Echinodorus sp. Rose)
Rose Sword is a beautiful Echinodorus variety known for broad, elegant leaves that can resemble rose petals—softly rounded, slightly pointed, and layered in a way that gives the plant a refined, centerpiece look. In many setups it stays green to warm green, but with brighter light and steady nutrition it can develop richer rosy tones and subtle reddish new growth that makes it feel more “special” than a standard Amazon Sword.
Rose Sword Overview
This is the kind of plant that instantly adds structure to a tank. As it matures, Rose Sword forms a full rosette with large leaves that create a lush backdrop, making it perfect for building depth and hiding equipment without looking like you’re “hiding” anything at all. Place it along the back wall or in a back corner and it will naturally mask heaters, filter intakes, and lines while still looking like an intentional part of the aquascape.
Aquarists appreciate Rose Sword for:

Focal-point presence: a big-leaf rosette that anchors the background
Potential rosy coloration: stronger light + good nutrition can bring warmer tones
Fish-friendly cover: broad leaves create shelter and calm zones for tank inhabitants
Great for hiding equipment: a natural way to conceal hardware behind healthy plant growth

For aquascaping, Rose Sword is at its best when it’s used as the lush “backbone” behind smaller textures and brighter accents. Plant it in the background as your big-leaf anchor, then build forward in layers: a dense red patch of Ludwigia Super Red Mini nearby adds contrast and a focal “hot spot,” while a midground clump of Staurogyne repens helps transition from large sword leaves to the foreground without feeling abrupt.
To finish the front edge, a true carpet like Dwarf Hairgrass on Coco Fiber Mat (or a tighter carpet like Glosso in higher light) creates that clean, finished foreground that makes the sword look even more dramatic. If you want to add extra texture on hardscape pieces, tuck Anubias coffeefolia into a rock/wood crevice so the rippled leaves break up the softer sword shapes.
The result is a scape that looks intentionally planted and “grown-in”—big structure in the back, rich texture in the middle, and a clean carpet up front—without needing constant rework.
Caring for Rose Sword
Rose Sword is not demanding, but it is a classic root feeder, so it rewards a well-fed substrate. It can absolutely grow in gravel, but it will look fuller, larger, and more colorful when the root zone is supported with a nutrient-rich planted substrate or routine root tabs placed near (not directly on top of) the crown. Consistent fertilization helps maintain stronger leaves, and additional iron/micronutrients can support deeper coloration—especially in brighter setups.
Planting tip: keep the crown just above the substrate line (don’t bury it deeply). Once established, it will send roots down and push new leaves from the center. If older outer leaves get shaded or worn, remove them cleanly at the base to keep the plant looking fresh. In good conditions, swords often produce runners that form baby plants you can separate and replant.

Light: Moderate (brighter light supports richer color and tighter growth)
Temperature Range: 68–82°F
Placement: Background
CO₂: Not required
Difficulty: Easy
Growth Rate: Moderate

Once it settles in, Rose Sword is a steady, reliable “backbone” plant. Give it space, feed the roots consistently with root tabs, and it will gradually build a dense rosette that adds depth, cover, and a polished, planted look—especially in community tanks where you want a lush background without constant trimming.
We offer many other variety of Sword plants, and they can be found here.

Plant of the day!

Name: Baby Tears Giant (Micranthemum Umbrosom) - Potted
Link: https://www.modernaquarium.com/baby-tears-micranthemum-umbrosom-potted/

🤔 What do you think about this plant? Do you have it in your aquarium? If so, drop your pic in comments!

Description: Baby Tears Giant (Micranthemum Umbrosom) | Potted
Baby Tears Giant is one of those plants that can make an aquarium feel softer, fuller, and more refined almost immediately. With its small, bright green leaves and naturally dense growth habit, it brings a lush, fresh look to the foreground while still feeling light and delicate. When given the right conditions, it can form a beautiful low, mounded mat or lawn-like effect that softens the edges of rocks and driftwood and helps the entire aquascape feel more natural and more complete.
Baby Tears Giant Overview
In the aquarium, Baby Tears Giant is most often used in the foreground, where it can be planted in tight groups and encouraged to spread into a dense, cushion-like planting. It is especially effective when tucked around hardscape, where the small leaves create contrast against bolder textures like stone and wood. It can also be used as a floating plant, where it takes on a looser, more relaxed look and provides extra cover near the surface.
Aquarists love Baby Tears Giant because it’s excellent for:

Creating a lush, fine-textured foreground with a soft, natural look
Forming a dense mat or low lawn effect under strong light and regular trimming
Adding detail and scale around rocks, driftwood, and hardscape edges
Working as either a planted foreground specimen or a floating plant
Providing extra cover and security for fry, shrimp, and small fish in planted tanks

Planted thoughtfully and trimmed consistently, Baby Tears Giant becomes one of the easiest ways to make an aquascape look more polished, more layered, and more intentionally designed.
Caring for Baby Tears Giant
Baby Tears Giant is not difficult, but it does have one especially important requirement: good light. When planted in the substrate, high light helps it stay lower, denser, and more compact. In weaker light, it is more likely to stretch upward and lose that neat, tidy foreground effect. It does not require an overly complicated setup, but it will usually perform best when planted into a nutrient-rich substrate or when supplemented with nutrients in the root zone.
Regular trimming is one of the keys to getting the best look from this plant. Use sharp aquascaping scissors to cut it back as it thickens; doing so helps maintain a tighter, bushier form and prevents the top growth from shading the lower portions. It can also be propagated easily from cuttings, which means healthy trimmings can be replanted to thicken the group or extend the planting into nearby areas. If you prefer a different presentation, Baby Tears Giant can also be floated, where it develops a more open, sprawling habit and adds softness near the surface.

Light: High
Temperature Range: 72–86°F
Placement: Foreground or Floating
CO₂: Not required, but beneficial for faster, denser growth
Difficulty: Easy–Moderate
Growth Rate: Moderate to Fast under good conditions

For the most attractive result, plant Baby Tears Giant in tight groups using aquascaping tweezers, then let it fill in gradually. It looks especially good when worked in among hardscape—around the base of Seiryu Stone, Ohko Dragon Rock, or driftwood like Spider Wood, Blackwood, or Driftwood on Slate—because the fine leaves add depth and make those stronger shapes stand out even more.
Baby Tears is also available bareroot/portion cup.
Why Choose the Potted Version
Choosing the potted version is a great option if you want a more stable, easier start—especially with a small-leaved plant that you may want to divide and place carefully. Because the plant has been grown and maintained in its pot, it typically arrives with a well-established base that makes it easier to separate into smaller portions or plugs for planting across the foreground.
That gives you flexibility right from the start. You can remove the plant from the pot, divide it into small clusters, and plant those clusters with a little spacing between them so they can grow together into a fuller foreground. Pairing the potted version with a nutrient-rich substrate, a consistent liquid fertilizer routine, and—if needed—occasional trimming will help it establish faster and maintain a denser, more attractive form over time.

🤔 What do you think about this product?

Description: Fluval Aqualife Red Ludwigia, 10″ | Artificial Plastic Aquarium Plant
Add rich red-green color and natural-looking plant texture to your aquarium with the Aqualife Red Ludwigia, 10″. Designed to replicate the look of live Red Ludwigia, this artificial aquarium plant brings instant height, contrast, and movement to freshwater or decorative aquarium setups without the care requirements of real plants.
Part of Fluval’s Aqualife plant series, this replica plant is made with soft, durable materials and realistic coloring to help create the look of a planted underwater garden. Its supple leaves move naturally with the aquarium current, making it blend beautifully into the aquascape while giving fish a comfortable place to swim around, explore, or rest.
Artificial Aquarium Plant Overview
The Aqualife Red Ludwigia is ideal for aquarists who want the appearance of live aquatic plants without needing special lighting, fertilizers, CO₂, nutrient-rich substrate, or regular trimming. Unlike real aquarium plants, artificial plastic plants are not affected by pH, KH, GH, nutrient levels, or other water parameters, making them a convenient choice for many aquarium setups.
At 10 inches tall, this artificial plant works well as a background accent, side placement, or taller midground feature. Its red and green tones help add contrast against green plants, dark substrate, aquarium rocks, and driftwood, making it a simple way to create a fuller, more colorful aquascape.
Key Features
This artificial aquarium plant is designed to provide realistic planted-aquarium style while staying easy to maintain.

Fish-safe materials: Made from non-toxic materials suitable for aquarium use.
Red Ludwigia-style appearance: Designed to mimic the colorful look of live Red Ludwigia.
Soft, supple texture: Flexible leaves provide an authentic look and feel while moving naturally in the water.
Fade-resistant color: Red and green tones help maintain an attractive, natural-looking display.
Low maintenance: No trimming, fertilizers, CO₂, substrate, or special lighting required.
Easy to clean: Algae or debris can be gently rubbed off by hand or rinsed away during routine maintenance.
Durable construction: Built to maintain its shape and appearance through regular aquarium use.
Water-parameter friendly: Will not affect pH, KH, GH, or overall aquarium water chemistry.
10-inch height: Great for background, side, or taller midground placement.

This makes the Aqualife Red Ludwigia a practical choice for hobbyists who want bold aquarium color and realistic plant texture without the demands of live plant care.
Aquascaping with Artificial Plants
Artificial plastic plants are especially useful for aquariums with fish that dig, nibble, uproot plants, or disturb delicate aquascapes. They can help create cover for small fish, break up sightlines in community aquariums, and add instant greenery and color to tanks where live plants may be difficult to grow.
Artificial plants can also be mixed beautifully with real aquarium plants. In fact, combining live and artificial plants is a great way to create a fuller, more natural-looking aquascape while keeping maintenance easier. High-quality artificial plants like the Aqualife Red Ludwigia are designed with realistic colors, textures, and movement, making it harder to tell them apart from live plants once they are placed in the aquarium.
For a balanced layout, place this 10-inch Red Ludwigia-style plant toward the back, along the sides, or near hardscape where its red-green foliage can stand out. Pairing it with aquarium rocks, natural gravel, driftwood, green artificial plants, or live aquarium plants can help create depth, contrast, and a more complete aquascape.
Care & Maintenance
Artificial aquarium plants require very little maintenance. During routine water changes, inspect the leaves and base for algae, debris, or trapped waste. Light buildup can usually be removed by gently rubbing the surface with your fingers or using a soft aquarium-safe brush.
For deeper cleaning, remove the plant from the aquarium and rinse it with clean water. Avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, or chemicals, as these can be harmful to fish and aquarium life.

Plant of the day!

Name: Anubias on Lava Rock (Small)
Link: https://www.modernaquarium.com/anubias-nana-on-lava-rock-small/

🤔 What do you think about this plant? Do you have it in your aquarium? If so, drop your pic in comments!

Description: Anubias on Lava Rock | Small
Anubias on Lava Rock (Small) is a perfect “place-and-enjoy” plant for aquarists who want an instant natural look with almost no upkeep. Anubias species come from riverbanks and stream systems in Africa, where they naturally grow attached to wood and stone in shallow, moving water. In the aquarium, that translates into a tough, adaptable plant with sturdy, dark green leaves that hold up well—even in tanks with active, boisterous fish.
Anubias on Lava Rock (Small) Overview
Because this Anubias is already attached to lava rock, you get the benefits of an epiphyte setup right away—no tying, gluing, or waiting for roots to grab. Lava rock also looks naturally “riverbed” and provides a textured base that helps the plant stay anchored where you place it, making it a great option for community tanks and aquascapes where you want stable hardscape planting.
Aquarists appreciate Anubias on Lava Rock for:

True low-maintenance growth: thrives in low light and doesn’t need heavy fertilization
Fish-resistant durability: thick leaves that are generally ignored by many nibblers
Instant aquascape structure: a ready-made plant + rock accent you can position in seconds
Flexible layout use: great as a foreground detail, midground anchor, or rockline accent

For aquascaping, this piece is ideal for tucking into the front edge of a stone ridge or placing at the base of driftwood, so the layout looks established from day one. It pairs beautifully with other lava rocks but ist just as easily be incorporated and paired with bolder rockwork like Seiryu Rock or Japanese Ohko Dragon Rock and looks especially natural when nestled near a darker driftwood accent like Blackwood. If you want to push a true habitat-style vibe, sprinkle a couple of botanicals—like Aquatic Catappa Leaves—around the base so it reads like a real shoreline/riverbed zone rather than a freshly placed decoration.
Caring for Anubias on Lava Rock
Anubias is simple because it’s a rhizome plant. The thick horizontal stem (rhizome) should never be buried in substrate—when it’s covered, it’s more likely to rot. On lava rock, you’re already set up correctly: just place the rock where you want it and let the roots slowly strengthen their hold over time.
Because Anubias grows slowly, it’s best to avoid blasting it with intense light for long periods, since slow-growing leaves can be more prone to collecting algae. A steady, moderate lighting routine and gentle flow usually keep it looking clean—and if you want an extra “insurance policy,” nerite snails are excellent at grazing algae off plant leaves and hardscape, while mystery snails can also help with general cleanup and leftover organics that contribute to algae pressure. Together with consistent maintenance, they’re a simple, natural way to keep Anubias looking display-ready without turning your tank into a constant scrubbing project.

Light: Low
Temperature Range: 69–86°F
Placement: Foreground–Midground
CO₂: Not required
Difficulty: Easy
Growth Rate: Slow

Once it’s in the tank, the main “care” is simply good placement and basic cleanliness. Set it where it won’t become buried in mulm, where gentle flow keeps it tidy, and where the lava rock shape complements your hardscape lines. Because it stays compact and grows slowly, Anubias on Lava Rock is ideal for aquarists who want a planted look without a weekly trimming schedule—just remove any older leaves that decline over time and enjoy a stable, durable green accent.
Anubias are also available on driftwood in size small, as bare-root plants, potted, and anubias petite on lava rock.
Note: Each plant/lava rock will have a unique look. The photo provides an idea of what it may look like and is not a representation of the exact item you will receive.

Plant of the day!

Name: Java Moss (Vesicularia Dubyana)
Link: https://www.modernaquarium.com/java-moss-vesicularia-dubyana-4-oz-cup/

🤔 What do you think about this plant? Do you have it in your aquarium? If so, drop your pic in comments!

Description: Java Moss (Vesicularia Dubyana)
A truly versatile classic, Java Moss is one of the easiest and most useful aquarium plants you can own. It’s perfect for creating lush, natural-looking scapes and provides outstanding cover and grazing surfaces for shrimp, small fish, and especially fry.
Java Moss Overview
Vesicularia dubyana, commonly known as Java Moss, is a hardy, adaptable moss native to tropical Asia. It forms fine, branching fronds that grow into a soft, green mat and will happily attach itself to almost any surface in the aquarium.
In the aquarium, Java Moss can be used in a variety of ways. It can be:

Tied to driftwood, rocks, or branches to create a natural, “forest” look
Spread over mesh or décor to form moss walls, trees, or carpets
Left free-form in breeding tanks to create dense, protective thickets

Java Moss uses tiny rhizoids to anchor itself to hard surfaces like rocks, driftwood, or décor. Because it has no true roots and does not burrow into the substrate, it absorbs nutrients directly from the water column. In doing so, it helps take up excess nutrients and contributes to a healthier, more stable environment.
This plant is especially valuable in aquariums housing fry and small fish. Its dense growth provides hiding places that help protect young fish from predation, and the fine fronds collect biofilm and microorganisms that fry and invertebrates will graze on throughout the day.
Care Guide for Java Moss
Java Moss is one of the least demanding aquatic plants in the hobby. It tolerates a wide range of water conditions, grows well in low light, and does not require CO₂ or fertilizer to survive. However, if provided with more intense light and occasional fertilization, it will grow faster and develop a thicker, more vibrant mat.

Light: Low–Moderate (stronger light encourages faster, denser growth)
Temperature Range: 59–86°F (suitable for both tropical and many cool-water setups)
Placement: Foreground, hardscape, specimen, breeding/fry areas
CO₂: Not required
Difficulty: Easy
Growth Rate: Slow to moderate (faster with good light and nutrients)

You can let Java Moss grow freely over the bottom or décor, or you can tie it to wood, rocks, or mesh using cotton thread, fishing line, or aquascaping glue. Over time, it will attach on its own and begin to spread in all directions. Java Moss looks particularly attractive when tied to branches or driftwood, where it creates the impression of miniature trees or overgrown roots.
Because it can trap fine debris, occasional gentle maintenance helps keep it looking its best. Lightly swishing or gently vacuuming around the moss during water changes will remove trapped detritus without damaging the plant.
