There is nothing quite like walking out into the backyard to harvest dinner. 🌿✨ Today’s menu: Creamy Garden Alfredo Penne topped with crispy fried oyster mushrooms, featuring fresh basil, oregano, and green onions picked straight from the raised beds. 🍝🧑🏽‍🌾
The flavor profile of home-grown herbs hits completely different—once you start adding fresh-cut flavor to your plate, you’ll never want to go back to grocery store plastic packages.
If you’re ready to start growing your own gourmet groceries with total confidence, you’re in the right place! Follow along for recipes, garden strategy, and seed-to-table inspiration.

Admit it... who else is guilty of checking their garden five times a day like it’s a full-time job? 🙋🏽‍♀️

It’s so easy to get overly fussy with our transplants and seedlings, obsessing over every millimeter of growth. But when we treat gardening like a rigid checklist, we completely miss the point. The garden isn’t meant to increase our stress—it’s meant to melt it away.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by your beds, it’s time to shift from micromanagement to intuitive stewardship. Let your plants do what they do best: grow. Your job is just to hold space for them, step back, and enjoy the flow.

If you want to learn how to break up with garden anxiety, I dive deep into this exact topic on page 9 of my book, Flavor in the Soil! In the "Girl with Plants Garden Method" section, I break down how growing with your plants can reduce overwhelm, establish a sustainable pace, and ground your entire gardening experience.

Nothing fuels a high-performance day like walking off the track and stepping right into the garden beds.

Today’s post-workout pull is a true 'Chef’s Garden' mix, selected specifically for intense flavor profiles, rich textures, and deep nutritional density:

🥬 Fresh Kale & Red Romaine
🌱 Aromatic Thyme, Oregano, & Chives
🫛 Crisp Snap Peas
🌸 Finished with delicate, homegrown edible petals

To elevate the harvest, I brought it straight into the kitchen and used a classic white wine and vegetable stock reduction, finishing it with vegan butter, sea salt, and cracked black pepper to bring out the natural sweetness of the spaghetti squash and fresh-pulled greens.

The full recipe for this elevated garden-to-table dish will be in my June Newsletter! 📋✨

From professional kitchens to the peaceful rhythm of the garden—my journey has always been about flavor, heritage, and the earth.

I grew up watching my grandmothers, Cherry and Eutilda, cultivate abundance. Today, I’m bridging the gap between soil health and gourmet flavor as a Certified Garden Coach. My mission is to empower you to grow your own ‘soft life’ through chemical-free, sustainable gardening.

Whether you have a sprawling backyard or a few cinder blocks in the city, there is healing power in activating your space.

☀️ SUMMER SURVIVAL WORKSHOP: I’m hosting a beginner-friendly virtual class on May 14th! We are diving deep into how to keep your garden thriving through the summer heat. I’ll be teaching my 'Chef’s Garden' methodology so you can grow real flavor even when the sun is at its peak.

There is a specific kind of peace found in tending to a sacred space. 🌿✨

Today in the culinary garden, I’m adding a bit of bone meal to the tomatoes and peppers. This is a key step in building a healthy ecosystem—giving the roots the phosphorus they need to thrive before the peak summer heat hits. 🌞

It’s all part of the garden-to-table journey I love so much. 🍅

Stop the summer wilt before it starts. 🌱☀️

Most gardens don’t fail from neglect; they fail from misinformation. As the Georgia heat starts to kick in, your edible landscape shouldn't have to suffer.

For the cost of a few organic seedlings ($20), join me on May 14th for a 60-minute Live Virtual Garden Call. We are getting past the "Google overwhelm" and moving straight into a season of real abundance.

What we’re breaking down:

✅ Solving the "Afternoon Wilt" (it’s not always about water!)
✅ Decoding those mysterious spots on your tomato leaves.
✅ The secret to harvesting herbs so they stay sweet, not bitter.
✅ The "Set-it-and-Forget-it" method for a low-maintenance summer.

The reality of a total garden reset. 👩🏾‍🌾

Voles forced my hand this year, but I’m taking it as an opportunity to do things right from the ground up.

If you're building new beds this spring, don't skip the hardware cloth! It’s the only way to protect those culinary roots I've spent 23 years perfecting.

Who else is doing a 'spring cleaning' in the dirt today?

Such a beautiful documentary of the black farmers in Thomasville Georgia. I recommend you see it before the film moves on to the next City (after Thursday).

I loved the Fire Side Chat (Q&A) between Jamila Norman and Brittany, the director of this 9 year project. The dialogue was minimal, but the story was heard loud and clear!

Honored to be recognized as a 2026 Lady Locavores Honoree! ✨ Thank you

I am thrilled to share that I’ve been named an honoree for the 2026 Lady Locavores event, hosted by Community Farmers Markets.

My journey from 23 years in the culinary industry to founding The Vegan Chef's Garden Consulting Co. has been driven by a single mission: bridging the gap between the soil and the plate through education and sustainable practice. To be recognized alongside other leaders building a more just and resilient food system is an incredible honor.
Education is a core pillar of what we do, and I am looking forward to celebrating this milestone with the Atlanta community on Sunday, March 8th.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this vision of flavor, sustainability, and community growth. Let’s keep growing!

I don’t just "plant and pray." I prep. 👩🏽‍🍳🌱

In the kitchen, we call it mise en place—having everything in its place before the heat is even turned on. In the garden, that prep work happens underground.

Welcome to Soil Week at Vegan Chef’s Garden Co.! This week, we are talking about the foundation of every gourmet harvest: the soil.

Here is the truth: Most people think soil is just "dirt." But as a Culinary Garden Specialist, I know that soil is where the flavor is born.

Healthy soil is a living ecosystem that feeds your plants.
The minerals in your soil are what give your kale its "snap" and your vegetables their deep, complex sweetness.
If it’s not in the soil, it won’t be on your plate.

If you want a "Bed-to-Bowl" lifestyle that actually tastes like five-star dining, you have to stop treating your soil like an afterthought. This week, I’m showing you exactly how I "season" my beds to ensure the highest nutrient density possible.

Tell me in the comments: Have you ever amended your soil, or do you just "plant and pray"? Let’s talk about it! 👇🏽

Stop buying bagged chips and start harvesting your own!
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is showing you how to take a plant I’ve nurtured in the soil and turn it into a gourmet, nutrient-dense snack in under 20 minutes.

As a Garden Coach, I want to make sure you’re harvesting in a way that keeps your plants thriving all season long. As a Chef, I’m sharing the secret to that perfect, airy crunch—it’s all about the dry-down and the technique.

Swipe left ⬅️ for my pro-tips on harvesting kale without slowing down your plant's growth, plus my simplest 3-step recipe for the perfect DIY Kale Chip.

Which variety of kale are you growing (or eating!) this season? Let me know in the comments! 👇🏽
