IMPORTANT FOR ALL SPOTS & SPLOOTS PUPPY FAMILIES 🐾
A reminder for all current and future puppy families: please read your puppy contract in its entirety BEFORE pickup day.
Your contract is provided ahead of time so that you have the opportunity to read it carefully, ask questions, request clarification, and make sure you are comfortable with the terms before you arrive to take your puppy home.
Contracts will not be crossed out, rewritten, or negotiated at pickup. If there is something in the contract you do not understand or disagree with, that needs to be discussed before pickup day, not when you are standing at the door ready to leave with a puppy.
Today was a reminder of why this policy is important. A person I was not expecting arrived at my home without notice, and I was put in an uncomfortable and pressured situation regarding changes to the contract. For my safety, my family’s safety, and the wellbeing of my puppies, I will not proceed with a puppy placement when I feel pressured, intimidated, or when the agreed-upon contract is being challenged at the time of pickup.
One specific clause that has apparently caused confusion is the provision regarding rehoming or selling a puppy. This does not mean that your child cannot inherit or continue to care for the dog. It means that the puppy cannot simply be sold, transferred, or rehomed without following the protections outlined in the agreement. If your child grows up with the puppy and eventually becomes the dog’s owner, that is an entirely different circumstance.
I put these contracts in place because I care deeply about where my puppies end up. These puppies are raised with love, time, money, veterinary care, socialization, and an enormous amount of work. The contract exists to protect the puppy, the family, and the breeder.
Please ask questions. Please read everything. Please take your time deciding whether you agree to the terms.
But once pickup day arrives, the contract is not being rewritten at my front door.
And one final reminder: please do not arrive at my home unexpectedly or bring individuals I have not been informed are coming. I am happy to communicate and answer questions, but I will not tolerate yelling, intimidation, or pressure especially in my home and around my young child.
I will always choose to delay or cancel a placement rather than send one of my puppies into a situation where I am uncomfortable with the circumstances.
The right home is more important than making a sale. Every single time. 🐾❤️
Thank you to all of our wonderful puppy families who respect our policies and understand that everything we do is ultimately about protecting these babies.
