Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸🐾

As we remember the lives lost and the countless heroes who responded that day, we also honor the incredible working dogs who served alongside them.

Search-and-rescue dogs worked through unstable rubble, smoke, heat, and debris. Police K-9s assisted first responders. Guide dogs led their handlers to safety. Therapy and comfort dogs brought moments of calm during unimaginable grief.

Dogs like Apollo, Bretagne, Trakr, Sirius, Roselle, Salty, Sage, Anna, Satchmo, and Gunner each played a different role — searching, guiding, comforting, and serving when they were needed most.

Their courage, loyalty, and devotion are part of the legacy of 9/11 too.

25 years later, we still remember.
They searched. They guided. They comforted. They served.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸🐾

LET THEM SNIFF. 🐾

That walk doesn’t always need to be about distance.

For your dog, sniffing is information.

Who walked here?
What animal passed through?
What changed since yesterday?

Allowing your dog time to sniff, explore, and process their environment can provide valuable mental enrichment.

There is absolutely a time for a structured heel — but there should also be a time to simply let your dog be a dog.

Structure and freedom can coexist.

LET THEM DOG. 🐾

Training is important. Structure is important. Boundaries are important.

But so is letting your dog just… be a dog.

Let them sniff.
Let them dig.
Let them roll.
Let them wander.
Let them investigate.
Let them enjoy the world around them.

A well-trained dog doesn’t need to spend every second in a command. In fact, good training should give your dog more freedom, not less.

Freedom to explore safely.
Freedom to experience new places.
Freedom to follow their nose.
Freedom to be curious, goofy, messy, and completely themselves.

At Off Leash K9 Training, our goal isn’t to take the personality out of your dog. It’s to build the communication and reliability that allows you to confidently give them more of the life they deserve.

Train them. Guide them. Then let them dog. 🧡💙

Today, we honor the hard work, dedication, and commitment that help build stronger futures — and that includes the work our clients put in with their dogs every single day.

Dog training is a journey. It takes time, patience, consistency, and trust. It’s not always easy, but the effort you put in creates something truly lasting: better communication, more confidence, more freedom, and a stronger bond with your dog.

This Labor Day, we celebrate not only the hardworking individuals across our communities, but also the owners who show up for their dogs and put in the work to create better dogs and a brighter tomorrow.

🐾 Help Stuart Find His Perfect Home 🐾

We’re helping one of our Off Leash K9 Training families find the right new home for a very special pup, Stuart. 💙

Stuart just turned 4 years old on May 31st and is a Golden Doodle mix with a sweet, loving, goofy personality. He truly loves being around his people and is happiest when he has that one-on-one companionship. He’s even known to sit up like a little gopher and wave his paws when he wants something. 😂

Stuart loves:
🐾 Playing fetch
🐾 Looking out the windows
🐾 Cozy naps with blankets and pillows
🐾 Duck treats
🐾 Spending time with his people

Stuart recently completed a Two Week Board & Train program with Off Leash K9 Training and knows heel, sit, down, place, come, and off. He is continuing to build consistency with his commands, particularly “place,” and has been making great progress.

He is also:
✅ House trained
✅ Crate trained
✅ Great with adults
✅ Great with children
✅ Loving, affectionate, and people-oriented

We believe Stuart’s ideal home would be one where he can be the only dog. His family is making the incredibly difficult decision to rehome him because Stuart and their other dog have had multiple conflicts, and their priority is keeping both dogs safe. This appears to be specific to the dynamic between the two dogs, as they have not experienced other behavioral concerns with Stuart.

Stuart does experience some skin allergies and currently receives Cytopoint approximately every 6–8 weeks, which has helped tremendously.

One of the biggest benefits for Stuart’s future family is that his training support does not end with his adoption. Because Stuart completed training through Off Leash K9 Training, he has access to our lifetime refresher support. Our team is also willing to meet with his new owners to help with the transition, review his commands and training system, and provide continued guidance so everyone can start off on the right foot. 🐾

This is not a decision Stuart’s family has taken lightly. They love him very much and are simply looking for a home where he can thrive, receive plenty of individual attention, and be loved for the funny, affectionate dog that he is.
