✅✅✅✅ BLAIZE female

As much as it pains us to make this announcement, we have made the difficult decision that our beautiful and well-known Blaze will not be part of our future breeding program.

Sometimes plans change, and the direction we originally envisioned takes a different path. While we had such high hopes for this stunning girl, we have come to realize that Blaize has a much bigger calling in life… being someone’s spoiled princess!

If you know Blaize, you know she is an incredibly affectionate girl who absolutely thrives on attention. She isn’t content just being near you. She wants to be ON you! She craves companionship, endless affection, and a warm lap to call her very own.

As much as we adore her, we believe she deserves a home where she can be someone’s constant companion and the center of their world.

This decision certainly hasn’t been easy, but part of being a responsible breeder is recognizing when a different path is in the best interest of one of our beloved cats.

We will be very selective about the family who gets to share their life with this special girl. Blaze deserves nothing less than a lifetime of love, attention, and spoiling.

Those who have followed our journey know just how special Blaze is to us. ❤️

MAINE C**N EDUCATIONAL CORNER: WHAT IS FEVER COAT?

Have you ever seen a Maine C**n kitten with an unusual silver, gray, or frosted appearance, only to watch that color slowly disappear as the kitten grows?

This is something called fever coat, and it’s actually pretty interesting!

Fever coat is a temporary change in a kitten’s coat pigmentation that can occur when the mother experiences a high fever, illness, or significant stress during pregnancy. These conditions can interfere with normal pigment development while the kittens are still in the womb.

Kittens affected by fever coat may be born with scattered silver hairs, frosted patches, or an overall lighter appearance than their actual genetic color. Sometimes the face, ears, legs, and tail will be noticeably darker than the rest of the body.

One important thing to understand is that fever coat is NOT a genetic color, nor is it something the kitten can pass down to its offspring.

For example, a genetically black Maine C**n kitten may be born looking silver or smoky, but as it grows and its kitten coat is replaced, the natural black coloring gradually comes through.

So, does fever coat go away?

Yes, in most cases it does. Some kittens begin showing their true color within a few weeks, while others may take several months. Every kitten is different.

Does this mean the kitten is unhealthy?

Not necessarily. Fever coat itself is generally just a cosmetic change and doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the kitten. However, the circumstances that caused it during pregnancy may be worth discussing with a veterinarian.

This is also why it’s important to understand the difference between actual genetic coat colors and temporary changes in pigmentation.

Just because a kitten looks silver doesn’t mean it’s genetically silver, and a frosted appearance doesn’t automatically make it a smoke Maine C**n.

There is a lot more to coat color genetics than what we see at birth, and understanding these differences is part of responsible breeding.

🐈‍⬛ EDUCATIONAL CORNER: RUFISM !! What it is ? Why Do Some Black Maine C**ns Turn Reddish-Brown?

LET’S TALK Rufism !! Since many are missing the point of the “chocolate” post which is NOT does this kitten have rufism - it is breeders marketing mainecoons cats in colors they are not , misleading folks, and calling it a rare new color , when it is NOT

Have you ever noticed a beautiful, jet-black Maine C**n developing reddish, rusty, or copper-colored tones in its coat?

This is commonly referred to as coat rusting, and what many people don’t realize is that it can be caused by nutrition, sun exposure, and other environmental factors rather than genetics.

🐾 1. TYROSINE & PHENYLALANINE — THE NUTRITION CONNECTION

One of the most fascinating causes of coat rusting involves two essential amino acids: phenylalanine and tyrosine.

These nutrients are necessary for producing eumelanin, the pigment responsible for a cat’s rich black coat.

Scientific studies have demonstrated that when black cats receive insufficient amounts of these amino acids to maintain optimal pigmentation, their beautiful black fur can gradually develop reddish-brown tones.

Interestingly, a cat may receive enough of these nutrients for normal growth and still not receive enough to maintain its deepest black pigmentation!

☀️ 2. SUN BLEACHING — YES, BLACK CATS CAN FADE!

Just like human hair, black cat fur can lighten with prolonged exposure to sunlight.

UV rays gradually affect pigmentation in the hair shaft, producing rusty, reddish, or brownish highlights.

This is especially noticeable on areas frequently exposed to sunlight, such as the back, shoulders, and tail.

🐾 3. OVERALL HEALTH & NUTRITION

A cat’s coat can tell us quite a bit about its overall condition.

Poorly balanced nutrition, inadequate nutrient absorption, or certain underlying health concerns can affect coat quality and pigmentation.

However, a rusty coat alone does not mean a cat is unhealthy or has a nutritional deficiency.

🐈‍⬛ 4. CAN BLACK FUR RETURN TO ITS DEEP BLACK COLOR?

Absolutely, depending on the cause!

When nutritional deficiencies are identified and corrected, newly growing fur may return to its original rich black pigmentation.

Sun-bleached fur may also be replaced by darker fur during the natural shedding and regrowth cycle.

Existing faded hair doesn’t simply turn black again overnight.

❤️ THE TAKEAWAY

Not every reddish or brownish tint in a black Maine C**n is a genetic color issue!

Sometimes the explanation is as simple as sunlight, nutrition, or normal coat changes.

Before assuming a cat’s coat color has genetically changed, consider the environmental and nutritional factors that influence pigmentation.

A genetically black cat can still experience coat rusting without any change to its underlying coat-color genetics.

🚨 MAINE C**N BUYER BEWARE! 🚨

🐾 Let’s Talk About the New “Chocolate” Maine C**n Trend!

We are seeing more and more breeders advertising supposedly “RARE CHOCOLATE MAINE C**NS” and “SOLID BROWN MAINE C**NS.”

Before you spend thousands of dollars on one of these so-called rare kittens, PLEASE educate yourself!

❌ CHOCOLATE IS NOT AN ACCEPTED MAINE C**N COLOR!

According to TICA (The International Cat Association), chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, and caramel are NOT accepted colors under the Maine C**n breed standard.

These colors raise serious concerns about breed ancestry and possible crossbreeding with other breeds.

Let’s also clear up a misconception: A brown tabby Maine C**n IS a recognized color. A true chocolate-colored cat is genetically different from a traditional brown tabby.

🚩 WHAT ABOUT REGISTRATION PAPERS?

Just because someone hands you registration papers DOES NOT automatically guarantee that a kitten is genetically purebred!

Registration paperwork can be misrepresented or falsified. Buyers should always verify pedigrees, parentage, and registration information directly with the registry.

⚠️ RARE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN PUREBRED!

Introducing colors from other breeds does not magically create a new, rare variety of purebred Maine C**n!

Be especially cautious of breeders charging premium prices for questionable colors while advertising them as exclusive or extremely rare.

And the same caution applies to the growing trend of “rare blue-eyed Maine C**ns.” Blue eyes in nonwhite Maine C**ns are not accepted under the traditional breed standard and can raise questions about ancestry. However, blue eyes alone do not prove a cat is mixed.

❤️ OUR ADVICE TO MAINE C**N BUYERS:

Do your research! Ask questions! Verify pedigrees and health testing BEFORE placing a deposit.

A responsible breeder should be working to preserve and protect the Maine C**n breed, not chasing the latest color trend for profit.

A beautiful cat can still make a wonderful companion without being a purebred Maine C**n. But buyers deserve to know exactly what they are purchasing!

👑 Introducing His Royal Majesty! 👑

It’s official! After much consideration, Grumpy has a new registered cattery name!

🐉 “Obsidian Black Majesty” of JCMaineC**ns 🖤

And I must say, I think it suits him perfectly!

At just 11 weeks old, this handsome boy already weighs an impressive 5.3 lbs! And can we talk about his TAIL?! 😍 I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a tail quite this long on a kitten his age! (Stayed tuned for tail photos )

With those dramatic ear tufts, gorgeous smoke coat, and larger-than-life presence, he’s already living up to his majestic new name!

I cannot wait to watch this boy continue to grow and develop. If this is what he looks like at just 11 weeks, I can only imagine what a magnificent Maine C**n he’ll become! 🖤🐾

Long live Obsidian Black Majesty! 👑

🐾 Ever catch your cat sniffing something, then making a face like they just heard shocking gossip?

That funny, slightly open-mouth expression has a name: the flehmen response!

Cats have a special scent-detecting organ called Jacobson’s organ. Opening their mouth helps them investigate scent signals, including pheromones—giving them extra information about other cats and their surroundings.

So that dramatic little face? Your cat is busy doing detective work! 🕵️🐱
