Many thanks to everyone who came out on a Tuesday night to support Napa Bunnies at The Fink. It was such a fun night and we were able to raiser $945 for the bunnies!
Special thanks to Miss Napa County Milan Alas for being our game caller, our friend Angela for selling lots of game cards, and Moose for making a special appearance.



Note: We have been vocal about rabbits being treated as accessories, dressed up and hauled everywhere...so I want to make clear that we don't want to encourage people to take their bunnies to bars, restaurants, etc. Our very social 17lbs boy Moose was being monitored the entire time, had a dedicated quiet space and was never forced to interact with anyone. We were also a short 5 minute drive from home and were ready to take him home anytime.

Thank you to the Petfinder Foundation for awarding us the 2026 Emergency Medical Grant. This grant helped us cover the cost of our sweet boy Oddy's enucleation surgery.
Oddy was diagnosed with cataracts and severe glaucoma in both eyes and a persistent corneal ulcer in one eye. Glaucoma and corneal ulcers are painful and serious conditions. Since Oddy was already nearly fully blind in both eyes, our eye specialist recommended the removal of both eyes to offer pain relief and eliminate future complications.
Oddy's surgery went well and he recovered in no time despite being an 8.5 year old senior rabbit! He is now living it up in his foster home with his sister Nibbles.
Oddy is available for adoption together with his sister. They are both healthy and do not require any special care, but would do best in a quiet home with no small children.

We received a call yesterday about someone interested in a pair of bunnies. She left a voicemail and I finally got around to call her back this afternoon.
She has two kids 7 and 10 and one of them is allergic to dogs so she thought rabbits would be a good alternative.
Since she had left the voicemail, she went online to do some research and found out that rabbits are prey animals, generally don't like to be held, are not easy pets and require expensive specialized veterinary care. I confirmed all that is correct, but also said they can make wonderful companion animals. She said her kids are wild, thanked me for following up with a phone call and that rabbits are not the right fit for her family.

I have to say that I hung up the phone with a smile knowing this family made the right call thanks to a mom who is an adult and listens to the experts instead of her kids. Will they be disappointed? Probably! But is admitting rabbits are not the right fit for them the right call? 100% yes!

I wish more people would act like adults instead of being offended or upset when we provide them with information or deny their adoption application.

It is our privilege to announce that Napa Bunnies is now offering cremation services to the public.
We have partnered with Bubbling Wells Pet Cremation to provide aftercare services for your beloved bunnies.
The cost for a private cremation is $150 and includes a standard cedar or carved wooden urn.

By popular demand we are working on a wall calendar for 2027 and want to feature your buns again!
You do not need to be a Napa Bunnies alumni to participate. And it's also a nice way to honor a bunny that has crossed the rainbow bridge.
Deadline for photo submissions is Saturday 10/31/2026 or sooner if all spots have been filled.
We are also going to add a little something extra this year for the ones amongst us who aren't maybe that great at taking pictures or just would like our local professional photographer Sally do the job.

Here is how it works:
Make a donation of $10 to have your bunny's photo on a specific day, for $50 your bunny will be featured as the Bunny of the Month, for $100 your bunny will be on the back cover and for $250 on the front cover.
Specific day and month requests are first come first serve. The front cover donor will also receive a free copy of the calendar.
Professional photos (2-3 digitals for you to keep) are $50 and include a feature on a specific day. Photo shoot will take place on Saturday 10/31/2026 from 1PM at our storefront. Space is limited, so don't wait to reserve your spot!
Calendars will be available for purchase at our storefront in Napa for $25 as well as in the online store.

Once you made your donation, please email a photo to [email protected] with the word "calendar" in the subject line.
Image rules:
Landscape orientation only.
High resolution 4 MB minimum and in .jpg or .png format.
No collages, stickers, or heavy edits.
Must be indoor settings. No cages or hutches! No humans in the pictures. Please don't dress up your rabbits and don't put them on a leash.
We reserve the right to decline any photo that we deem inappropriate or not in line with our mission and philosophy.

When was the last time you checked your bunny's hocks?

Sore hocks or pododermatitis is a common health issue in rabbits. Unlike cats and dogs, rabbits do not have padding under their feet; it's just fur over skin. Therefore it's easy for the sole of the foot to become raw and inflamed. It can be painful, and if not treated properly, can progress to very serious conditions such as bone infections.

Sore hocks can be caused by improper flooring, long nails, unclean living environment, obesity and lack of exercise. It is important to identify the cause and make the necessary adjustments. Discuss prevention with your veterinarian at the next annual wellness exam.

Roy was fitted for some hock socks. He also happens to be a rex, a breed more prone to sore hocks due to their fine fur. Roy is wearing "for some bunny special" hock socks

10 days ago we received a call regarding a baby bunny that wasn't in good shape. The person had found them outside in their yard in Newark and had no idea where they came from.
We knew we had to help and had the bunny drop off with one of our partner veterinarians. After an initial assessment the bunny we named Newark was treated for parasites and bloat.
Newark is doing well and gaining weight. I am not 100% sure of the s*x since Newark is still really young, but we definitely have a little energizer bunny!
