Remember Rider, the tiny kitten who found herself tucked away in an engine bay?

Well, this adventurous girl has found a much safer mode of transportation—a kitty-to-go box on her way home with her new forever family!
Rider has been lucky not once, but twice. First, she was discovered and rescued from a dangerous situation.
Then she captured the hearts of a wonderful family who fell in love with her sweet personality and decided to make her part of their family.

Congratulations, Rider! We can't wait to hear about all your future adventures from the safety and comfort of your forever home.

Thank you to her adopters for choosing adoption and giving this special girl the happy ending she deserves!

When Meredith, Penny's foster mom, said, "We did it," she truly meant we—the entire Nacogdoches community.

Penny, a sweet cur mix girl, made the luckiest move of her life when she found Meredith back in February. Meredith brought Penny into the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter system and fostered her ever since.

Meredith's tenacity made her Penny's greatest advocate: she created an Instagram page just for Penny; she worked on her training and socialization; she took Penny on walks through downtown Nacogdoches and captured beautiful photos that showed the world who Penny really was.

Meanwhile, our shelter's rescue coordinator Amanda Whitmore Sowell kept cheering Penny on through the shelter's social media Pets at Nacogdoches Animal Shelter . The Paws4Nac team worked every angle to find her placement. Bee Becker and Brandi Randolph took Penny to the first Nacogdoches Niners game, where she got to walk on the field. She was nervous, but she handled it like a pro.
Then, just one day before Meredith had to hand Penny off to another awesome foster mom Kelly Watson Young, the message came.
Ms. Shelli wanted to adopt her!
Right here in Nacogdoches!

And here's the extra cool part: Penny's adoption started with a repost.
Meredith posted Penny's story. Amanda shared it. Ms. Shelli saw it.
Three months of teamwork led to a forever home—but the connection happened with a single click.
Never underestimate the power of sharing a shelter pet. You don't have to adopt. You don't have to foster. Sometimes, the life-saving thing you can do is hit "share."

Congratulations, Penny. We did it. ❤️ Thank you everyone who cared for Penny!

URGENT FOSTERS NEEDED FOR WOODS PUPPIES

The puppies found in the woods are growing stronger every day, but we still need your help!

Right now, these babies are bottle-feeding every 6 hours and will be ready to start gruel next week. We have 2 puppies that need a temporary foster immediately and 2 more that will need temporary fosters by June 12.

A foster commitment of just 1–2 weeks can make a life changing difference. By opening your home for a short time, you'll help these puppies grow, stay healthy, and prepare for the next step in their journey while we work with our rescue partners to find their forever homes.

❤️ The shelter provides all supplies.
❤️ We offer support every step of the way.
❤️ You provide the love and a safe place to grow.

If you can help, please fill out the foster application and then send me a message to let me know you've applied. https://www.nactx.us/852/Fostering
Even if you can't foster, please share this post. The right person may see it because of you.

A huge thank you to the Nacogdoches Niners for a great night of baseball and for giving beautiful Penny her moment to shine!

Penny, a shelter dog from Pets at Nacogdoches Animal Shelter and a Paws4Nac foster family, was a star as she walked onto the field and was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd. Thank you to everyone who cheered her on and helped showcase the amazing pets waiting for their forever homes.

If you couldn't make it to Tractor Supply Co. Animal Days Pet Adoption Event, check out these photos of these beauties that were ready to meet you.

The good news is that it's not too late to find your next best friend. You can complete an adoption application online and get the process started today. Most adoptions are processed within 24 hours, and the team at Nacogdoches Animal Shelter will be happy to assist you every step of the way.
To learn more about adopting, visit:
https://www.nactx.us/641/Adoption-Information
Or call the shelter at 936-560-5011.

If you have a little extra room in your heart and home, please consider fostering these puppies. They are a bright, intelligent group that makes excellent eye contact and enjoys interacting with people. Like all young puppies, they still have the wiggles and will need a patient, loving foster family to help guide them through house training and basic manners.
Fostering gives Nacogdoches Animal Shelter and Paws4Nac valuable time to find the perfect adoptive family or secure placement with one of our trusted rescue partners. By opening your home temporarily, you can truly change a puppy's future. Here the foster application link:https://www.nactx.us/852/Fostering

This week was incredibly emotional for Paws4Nac.
Thanks to our top notch rescue partner Mile High Labrador Retriever Mission, today, Grace arrived at her forever home in Colorado with a family who had been counting down the days until her arrival.

I was in tears after dropping her off with her half-day foster, Ms. Hallie, before her departure from Houston. I wasn’t just happy for Grace — a dog who became so stressed in the shelter environment that she was considered at risk — I was overwhelmed thinking about all the sweet faces, smiles, kindness, and tears that became part of her rescue journey.

Ms. Amy and Ms. Kelly stepped up for Grace, opened their homes to her, and showered her with love and attention.

Through fostering, we learned so much about who Grace truly is outside the shelter environment. We learned she is quiet, affectionate, and a quick learner with potty training; we learned she is scared of cars but settles during the ride; we learned she is a jumper and food motivated enough to help herself to human food by counter surfing, the kinds of things we often cannot see in a shelter kennel.

Today, we celebrate Grace’s adoption and extend our deepest gratitude to the families who choose to become a critical part of an animal’s survival path — from a shelter dog or cat to beloved family member.

Thank you for believing in dogs like Grace, and thank you for fostering. ❤️
