Why We Prioritize Shelter & Rescue Dogs?
Many ask why we choose shelter, rescue, and rehomed dogs over those from breeders. Here are a few key reasons:
1. Cost: Dogs from breeders can be expensive. While their prices often reflect health testing, genetics, and temperament insights, making them a worthwhile investment for many, not everyone can afford it. Both adoption and purchasing have their own risks.
2. Overpopulation: There's a high number of dogs in shelters, rescues, or needing rehoming daily, often through no fault of their own.
3. Second Chances: Choosing these dogs saves lives, opens up spots for other animals, and gives them a second chance, offering handlers independence.
Our program aligns with this philosophy. While we can still match you with a breeder and offer temperament testing and training if that's your preference, our focus is on giving these deserving dogs a new beginning. My program dogs, Star (from a local shelter), Aspen (a rescue), and Vida (from a rehoming situation), are testaments to this. All are available for matchmaking for owner training, with options for owner training with virtual sessions, started, or fully trained programs. We currently have 7 spots open for board and training for October.
