Don't mind the feral toddler in his un**es playing with trucks in my flower beds... look past him at where 1 year old goes anytime she sneaks out of the house... me too baby girl, me too 🥰

Okay, let's hear it. Who's your favorite trainer or training method for your horse?

I was having a conversation with someone the other day about how they trained horses by "cowboying" them. How rough they were with techniques (if you want to call them that) for making a horse submissive. If you know me... overall, this is NOT my thing or something I really even approve of... but it made me curious how everyone else likes to train their gypsies and what works for them? If it's cowboying... no judgement here! Well.. okay, maybe some, but not out loud on social media anyways. And hey, I follow the Clinton Anderson methods and that itself is plenty controversial too 😆

I'm not an expert by any means. I only handle my own horses, but for my gypsies, I have been SO pleased with how well they respond to The Method (meaning Clinton's). It's black and white. His methods aren't exactly soft. They are stern but not over the top. Not cruel. It's step by steps that builds in ways the horses comprehend and pick up easily. It puts a gas pedal on the non-gas pedal ponies. It creates softness in a typically un-soft breed. It encourages them to move instead of keeping them tied up, which in turn leads to a quieter horse you never have to constrain on down the road. It gains respect from movement and desensitization, and in my opinion builds one heck of a quality foundation for any horse.

BUT I love to learn, these are just my experiences... What has worked best for you??

*With that said all discussions HAVE to stay kind and informative. Rude comments will be deleted. Nobody got time for that.

Just your daily reminder that you're a bad *ss. You got this.

Go harder - it IS worth it, because your goals, they don't just 'happen'.

One of my two gypsy foals I'm retaining from 2026. She came from a breeding with an outside grulla stud - I was hoping for a grulla filly to retain as a future broodmare. For once got exactly as hoped for, lol. As pretty as this little lady she might have to be shown first for a few years though.

Oklahoma Smokeshow "Lahoma" is out of Gitt Dunkin Donuts and Mount Christie Bobbi Sox - Starfire's the Monarch and Nobby lines.

I normally wean at 5+ months, but I just weaned her this week at 4 months due to her pulling down her momma a little more than I like. She's handled it wonderfully and seems to be enjoying herself in with Saint another weanling and Apollo.

She sure is a pretty thing to watch running through her paddock everyday.

My dreamboat pony 🖤

I wonder if he knows he was my dream horse from the time I was a little girl. I’ve had horses my whole life, grew up on quarter horses, then had gaited horses, but always got googly eyed over any drafts or Friesians. I wanted something black with all the hair, so naturally when I got old enough to buy my own horses I went with a friesian. After having a couple the temperament just wasn’t quite right for me. 8 years ago I talked my husband to taking me to a gypsy show down in Fort Worth… and that was it. End of story. My heart immediately knew this breed, their beauty, their quiet temperament. It’s what my soul had always been searching for. And I am thankful every single day for having the honor of caring for and raising these amazing creatures.

I’m a little slow to post, but Monroe and I spent last weekend at a 3 day Clinton Anderson Fundamentals Clinic. It’s probably my 5th or 6th time to attend one of these and every time I learn so much. Monroe is at about 45 days of ride time now and we really worked on our gas pedal getting a consistent lope down, we can side pass from the ground or from the saddle nicely, we are softer on the bit and we even laid her down for fun.

It was a wonderful weekend and even better to bond more with this wonderful mare of mine. My goal with this quiet even tempered girl is to ride with my little ones. I think another month of consistent riding and she’ll be there 🥰
