Ever wonder why we talk so much about bones and elbows in the Cane Corso community? It all comes down to history and biology.

📜 The Skeletal Evolution
Ancient Corsi were agile Roman war dogs and versatile farm guardians. They were built lean and athletic. Over the last century, breeding shifted toward a much heavier bone density and massive body structure. While they look magnificent, this rapid increase in weight puts immense biomechanical stress on their joints.

🦴 The Elbow Dysplasia Reality
Because they grow so large, so fast, the ulna and radius bones in a puppy’s forearm can grow at mismatched speeds. This creates friction, cartilage wear, and painful bone chips—a hereditary condition known as Elbow Dysplasia.

🛑 Protecting the Growth Plates
A Cane Corso is a slow-maturing breed. Their growth plates don't fully close until they are 18 to 24 months old. While those plates are open, their skeletal system is highly vulnerable to injury.
