TW:
The pet sitter in this video was originally found on Rover. And this is just another example of why we urge every pet parent to work with a professional pet sitting/dog walking company.
Generally speaking, a person that owns a pet biz or works for one local to them would be WAY less likely to do crap like this versus some random person working through an app-based platform like Rover.
When you hire a local person or company, one that has ties to the community, cares about their neighbors, cares about their reputation and cares about the pets in their care, this type of behavior is rare.
Not saying things don’t happen or hasn’t happened with professional companies but since I started my business back in 2008 I don’t think I’ve ever heard about a pro company being reported for this type of action, however, there are dozens of bad stories and one specific Facebook group for pet parents that have had their pets injured, stolen or killed by a Rover pet sitter 😭😬😭
Pet sitter seen on camera kicking, slapping customer’s dog
🚨WARNING: VIDEO IN COMMENTS🚨
Warren Police are now investigating after the video made the rounds on social media.
The 6-year-old dog named Frankie was in the care of a pet sitter last week in Warren when she was allegedly caught kicking and slapping the dog while screaming.
The owner tells us that Frankie didn’t have any physical injuries. She has used the same pet sitter four times after finding her on Rover.com with good reviews.
The pet sitter could face charges.

Statement from Rover:
At Rover, safety is a top priority and we take any reports or concerns of animal mistreatment or abuse extremely seriously.
While this stay was not booked on our platform, limiting the information we were able to gather about this incident, our 24/7 Trust & Safety team conducted a thorough investigation with the information available to us as soon as these allegations were brought to our attention. We immediately worked to remove any other pets booked through Rover from the sitter’s care. The account of the sitter involved has been deactivated and we have reached out to the pet parent to offer our support.
Our team stands ready to assist law enforcement in their investigation to the best of our ability should they reach out.
