Scam Alert – Impersonating Law Enforcement 📞⚠️

The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a scam in which callers are impersonating Oconto County officers and contacting individuals about a relative who is incarcerated. The caller claims that, for a fee, they can have the person released from jail or placed on GPS monitoring. These calls can sound convincing because the scammer may use the incarcerated person’s name or other real information. This is a scam.

🚫 The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office will never call to request money for someone’s release, bond, or placement on monitoring.
🚫 We do not accept payment through gift cards, apps, or over the phone in this manner.

If you receive one of these calls:
🔹 Do not send money or provide personal information
🔹 Hang up immediately
🔹 Report the call to our office or your local law enforcement agency

Snowmobile Trails Update:

With snow in the forecast, we know you're wondering: will the snowmobile trails reopen?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. The 2025–2026 snowmobile season has officially closed. Many trails have no remaining base and with open water across the county, it's not safe or feasible to reopen for the season.

We know how much snowmobiling fuels our communities here in Oconto County and look forward to next winter.
