In 2 years we've only had to take 2 pets to the vet, and last week was one of them. Drax gave himself a hot spot from chewing on the base of his tail, and it happened quickly — one day he was fine and the next it was noticeable and driving him crazy.

We called his mom and put a cone on him, hoping it would give him a chance to heal, but the following day it was even more inflamed, so off to the vet we went. They shaved part of his floofy b***y to help keep it clean and dry, and gave us some hot spot powder, antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory.

Drax was a trooper and didn't seem to mind the vet trip — his mom joked that he did it on purpose so he could ride in the car. 😂 He went home yesterday and seemed to be feeling better, despite still having to wear the cone of shame!

We try to post happy, smiling cats and dogs all the time, but occasionally this is the reality. Accidents and illness can happen, just like it can at home, and we never mind calling or going to the vet to make sure your pets are okay. 💛

(The first vet trip we mentioned was a cat that refused to eat. We got her checked out and the vet gave us some anxiety meds and an appetite stimulant, and she was back to eating by that evening. 😌)

We have kittens!! 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ We have 3 female cats available for adoption — 2 kittens and mama cat, Phoenix! She showed up outside the kennel in March and wouldn't leave, so after about a week we took her to the vet and she was pregnant!

The kittens were born April 19, so they are 6.5 weeks old. We estimate that Phoenix is 3 years old. She is petite at around 8 lbs and has been spayed (she had pyometra after birth and needed emergency surgery!) Phoenix is super sweet, affectionate and playful. And the kittens are, well... kittens. 😻

☀️JUNE PETS OF THE MONTH☀️

To kick off the summer, our June Pets of the Month are these two goofballs, Gus and Tuck! They prove that opposites attract — Gus likes to jump around the yard like a pogo stick, while Tuck would rather keep all 4 paws on the ground and get pets. We asked Gus & Tuck's pawrents to send us a little bio for them:

"Tuck and Gus are regulars at Sunny Ridge, often spending the weekend while Mom and Dad are at soccer tournaments for the two-legged siblings. They may look alike, but they are polar opposites. Tuck is an old soul, who never met a worry he couldn’t stress about. Gus is the best friend Tuck is still pretty sure he never asked for — unbothered by anything, including Tuck’s disdain. Gus has worn Tuck down over the past two years, though, and you can often find them napping together or playing tug with an old soccer ball. They are goofy and sweet and everything you hope for when you get a lab."

We've boarded a bunch of new puppies lately! 😋 We can accept your puppy as long as they're fully vaccinated (so at least 3-4 months old). We know it's hard to leave them so soon, but it's actually a great way to set them up for success with boarding as they grow up. And they're so CUTE! 🥰💛🐾
