**UPDATE ON CLINT**
Clint came home yesterday evening from the vet!! The vet had originally wanted to keep him for 48hrs BUT because he did so well, they let him discharge home early! Since home my said he has been eating/drinking well and even attempted to jump up on the stool! Heās been using the stool to get up on the couch for years. He appetite feel better! We will update as time goes on, but for now there are still precious days to be spent with him. Thank you to all of you that have been pulling for our guy, praying, and commenting well wishes!!ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Westie friends and family, please say a prayer for Clint as he was hospitalized yesterday for an Addison crisis. His potassium is at a critical high level. He is getting IV steroids and IV fluid. Clintās been declining in his health over last several months. Heās had a 6lb weight loss, weakness, and sleeps the majority of the day. Although he is 14.5 yrs old, we are choosing to have him treated at this time. Our Vet is providing critical interventions. We hope that with treatment, he will perk up and have a tiny bit more quality time left to enjoy with his mama Kathy (my mom).
We know Clintās time on earth is limited and he may need help to cross the bridge soon. Heās lived a full and beautiful life at his age. That is the part that brings peace.
Back story on Clint:
He is my mom, Kathyās āboy pup,ā (she calls him). He was the only boy out of our FIRST AKC Westie bloodline litter of 5 puppies. His parentage was strong with champions/grand champions, from both US and England.
We kept 2 girls from the litter, Dora and Layla. Those were our
foundation moms for WW. Clint went to our mentor/breeder to be part of her breeding program as per our agreement. He produced many beautiful puppies over 6.5 years. When the breeder retired, she offered Clint to return to us. Of course, we were thrilled to have him back in our family!! We had him flown to us and my mom went with me to the airport to pick him up. He learned to live with people in a house and the softness of the sofa and dog beds. He potty trained with some patience. I had him for about 6 wks for him to acclimate. Then, Clint went to live with my mom as a close companion. His new job was to fill a space of loneliness that came with my momās loss of her dear Daisy (boxer and shar pei mix). She lives alone and is disabled. Clint and her have bonded to the extent that they have never spent a single day apart. This is the first time theyāve spent a night apart and itās so difficult for my Mom. Please whisper a prayer for her as well. We all love Clint immensely.
Iāll update after we talk to the vet today.
Thank you WW familyā¤ļø
